DERP DERP DERP everybody. The scholarship for life thing is marketing. This is Kentucky's version of Duke's "set for life." It's to ease the parent's anxiety, and good PR for the team. THAT'S IT. We all know John Wall can afford to pay for college (and I wouldn't be surprised if he made a good donation to the University), duh.
It has little to do with John Wall and more to do with guys like Isiah Briscoe who might burn out their pro basketball careers at at an age that will require that they figure out an alternative method to earn a living.
the scholarship for life helps connect them deeper to UK. makes them an even greater recruiting tool. there's alittle more of a connection to "that's my college" when you get your degree from there, especially if you chose to go back and finish. also i don't think john wall is getting a dorm room and meal plan paid for, so this ends up being cheaper for the university.

I often wonder how much Nike pays in shoe deals with Wall type players? To my knowledge John Wall doesn't even have a shoe deal. I bet he does have a slew of endorsements but I don't know of any. My point being is I DO know John Wall has given plenty out of his pay.
John Wall seems like a giver and not a taker. I'd have that person around me or my program any time... For the small amount tuition costs in comparison. It would sure be very narrow-minded to not want all previous UK players around the University (Cal's and before players), around the program. Very narrow-minded. All of those guys were 4 year players. I am surprised that none of them finished their degrees in that time. That is unless they had real majors instead of communication or whatever the easy major used to be. At least they didn't have AFAM as their major.

I am afraid with the news of Penny Hardaway being mentioned to take Tubby's place will drastically reduce are chances. He (Wiseman) and a couple other top 50's play for Penny on his AAU TEAM... We can't catch a break lately it seems...

Why the hell do you care? Is it your money? People get scholarships for academics, for athletics, for need. Is your life affected in any way by players getting a lifetime scholarship?
