I'd really like for our fan base to remember this. We overrate these recruits coming out of HS, and then when they don't perform quite as well and have early struggles, we freak the F out.
We've done this before. Every year we have some recruits that will take months to find their game. Next year will be no different. Quickley, Keldon, Herro.. they will all have early struggles. But chances are, they will begin to pull it together by February, and like almost all years under Cal, we'll finish out the conference/SECT pretty strong.
We were ready to write off this team, and they just had one of the most impressive wins in Cal's tenure. I'm not sure either the 2015 or 2016 squads would have won that game if it were on their schedules.. at least not in late January..
As with all things and basketball especially....The race is not for the swift but for those who can endure.

I doubt i could ever get tired of listening Cal talk basketball. The dude is one of the best and will probably never get the respect he deserves from rival fans hating everything Cal and Kentucky related. You can talk Cal recruiting so much talent every recruiting class, but why are these same people never talking about no other coach being able to take an all freshman lineup and actually playing team basketball by March madness? When our fans freak out over losing an early season game, i just shake my head. This is a Kentucky team that deep down no fan will want to see their school anywhere near UK's side of the bracket. No top talent level player to take over when the tourney happens? Yeah, right. How could you not watch Knox and think dude could be the unguardable type at the end of the season.

Thanks OP! I agree. People forget that we go thru this virtually every season. I think that for being his youngest team that we are coming along faster than expected. Went on the road beat a top 15 caliber team a great defensive team on the road. It was this same time last year Kansas came on to our home court and beat us. That team was a last second shot and a dirty official that kept that team from a final four. Maybe even a title. Relax this team is almost impossible to match up with. We are just now getting healthy
