tonight I said with 5 minutes or so left in the game if either team got a 7 point lead it was over. For UK I should have revised that to 5

Did Cal not recruit our players, I sure don't make near 10 million, but I can see we have slow players, about a 1/4 second slow, and it shows as they drive by all of the Cats play after play. Just saying, I bet they weren't fast last year either.

I am sorry for attempting to coach the last six minutes of the game. I know that the team got the lead with little to know real coaching from me. However, I felt like if I didn't do something at the end I wouldn't get all the credit if we won. Since we lost, it is the players fault. They just won't listen to my constant screaming. Heck even the refs won't listen to me.

i told my wife at that time, Boston and Askew will lose the game for us because Cal is desperately wanting them to win a game and build confidence.... and sure enough. Feelings over winning ... *vomits*

Jesus Christ, that is a f***ing terrifying quote. Cal is the last coach I want instructing players on how to close out a game.
The way we win with 3 minutes to go is for him to act like there is a full quarter to go. Cal has no clue for how to coach in the closing minutes of a game. How many times has his late game coaching turned a blowout victory into a nail bitter?

Now I know why he built "The Great Wall of Calipari" around his house when he moved to Lexington.

He knew that this type of play was waiting at the end of 10 years of one and done.

We're not tough.
We let go of the rope.
We're close.
I love conference tournaments.
We're just not ready to finish a game.
Did he really say this about conference tournaments? I remember Cal talking about how much he hates them and now it's his potential saving grace 🤭

Knowing this, wouldn’t a competent coach put in an offense designed to get his team quality shots? Just spitballing here!!!
Stop it! You are expecting way too much from the highest paid coach in college basketball.

It cost us two titles.

If Askew stays here for 3 or 4 years, he will develop the ability to successfully play pg at this level. Hopefully he bucks the trend and stays. I'll be amazed if he stays 3 years.

I will say this, Clarke being out is a big deal, he is a guy that can take his man off the bounce
Askew is way to slow to go to the NBA. If he can't dribble past anyone in college, why would any NBA team want him at this point?

Askew has been groomed to be a 1nD. He sucks. He will leave after next year no matter how bad he is.

Oh I never said he was going to the NBA, but we have seen kids transfer and leave after 2 years to go to the GL too often to believe he's going to stay beyond 2 years.

Respectfully disagree. Askew is the slowest PG I’ve ever seen at UK. You can’t practice speed. He’ll never be fast enough to make us ‘Kentucky good’ no matter how long he stays.
