That's pretty much our historic average, as in, what we do in a given season.

It's not bad, but it's not like Cal's proven jack squat this season by winning 77 or 78% of his games.

Half our historic seasons have basically been worse, and have have been better.
All depends on the run. That’s it. Get to final four. Not a bad year. Fail to make it there. And well. The seat gets warm.

I think UT would be ok with it.

I’m still trying to figure out how we beat Kansas like we did? This team has regressed over the last month. It’s very hard to watch. Offense has been worse. Defense has been terrible. It’s just been harder to watch.

I don’t think there is time now to try to fix anything - we are what we are.

Maybe I’m just pissed.

We are out of the top 25 in adjusted D in Kenpom, that’s not good. Our offense has slipped as well. Probably will be 5 tomorrow, and was 2.

Oh well, it is what it is.
I’m still waiting for the team that played Kansas in Lawrence and UT in Lexington. The best two games all year. That’s our ceiling. That’s our potential.
The SEC as a whole this year was very physical. Defense and physicality was a reason for a lot of the SEC’s success. We struggled against the most physical SEC teams. Once UT figured out how to out physical us we were cooked. We couldn’t buy a shot today. When we can’t buy an open 3. When we drive to the basket and it seems like the defense has 8 guys on the floor we struggle. Oscar is amazing. What he’s accomplished all year is amazing but he does get frustrated against taller and longer opponents who challenge him physically. He was frustrated all day as was the rest of the team. That’s something they’ll have to figure out the next couple of weeks. But I also think games like today are reasons guys like Oscar and Wheeler come back next year. A game like the one we had today didn’t exactly help Oscar’s draft stock.

Oscar coming back would be amazing.Wheeler back is fine as long as he's a backup.

Actually you would be surprised how many fans are fed up with Cal.To act like it is just a few people on a message board is dead wrong.
Do you really think that there is any chance of Cal being fired? No matter what happens in the tournament? They could lose by 40 to Jacksonville State and his job is more secure than yours.

Of course with an idiot like Mitch giving him a lifetime contract it's doubtful but if Cal keeps flaming out how long will this be accepted?
You call Mitch an idiot because you are one. I'm 85 years old and at no time in my life have all of our athletic programs been in better shape than they are now. How old are you? You don't win the national championship every year. The beloved Adolph Rupp won 5 in 40 years.

That's only because Mitch gave him a LIFETIME contract. So you're right, it doesn't matter what Cal does from here on out, he won't be fired. But if he doesn't at least get this team to a Final 4 with the National Player of the Year, there will be considerable heat on him from the fans and media.

So, will Cal's ENORMOUS ego allow him to stay at UK when he no longer can BS his way out of losing in the post season? Will he continue to hang onto a job when fans and followers of the program no longer look at him in high regard, but as a carpet bagger that has lost his golden touch?

After last season, Cal used up most of his equity from the first 6 seasons. It's been way too long since we got to a Final 4 for a coach that's paid what he is. But, if Cal wants to be stubborn, he can stay here and either fix the problems or end up being HATED by those that love the program.

Here we go again.

Did you see the shot selection tonight? Most of those threes were atrociously out of the offensive flow. Terrible looks because the offense broke down.

There's usually a reason a team goes 2/20. It has a lot to do with the other team out-game planning you.
You are gonna have to back that one up with something more than what you got.I honestly viewed a number of good looks that just did not drop this afternoon, It happens players miss shots!

I have to change things in my philosophy. We slow to a crawl offensively in the postseason. I have to come up with better ways to get my best scorers good shots. Allow them to run and play loose. We allow lesser teams to dictate pace. We are too predictable and easy to prepare for. We don’t force many turnovers. We don’t tighten up the little things like inbound plays offensively or defensively. I have to develop my bench better early in the season. Even with my best teams I haven’t done these things well enough. Until Cal says that, I don’t have much interest in what he says. And he’s not ever gonna say that.

Cal has a lifetime contract — too expensive ever fire him
Fire his *** for "cause" ... violation of his contract for not making his priority the promotion of the University's Men's Basketball Program. Show me where in his contract his job is to make the program a "Players First Program". "Players First" has proven itself to be a detriment to the Program. He voided anything remotely related to "lifetime contract" ... what a joke.

If you (or anyone else) can't handle a loss and start rattling off ultimatums and bashing coaches/players after every game that doesn't go our way you and them are bandwagon fans plain and simple.

You don't get to have your cake and eat it too.

Pick a side. You are either in or out.

What I love is if we go to a FF everyone will be thrilled, same ones that bash Cal now but if we lose he sucks.

Make sense of that...I'm sure you will.
I HATE every damn single loss. Kentucky should win them all. I was so frustrated with this game, I quit watching with ten minutes to go. Fan is short for fanatic. I've suffered losses for fifty years. They all hurt until the next day. We say bleed blue for a reason. If you don't bleed a little after a loss, well, you don't understand UK fandom.

They had some good looks. Every shot Grady took was falling away or completely off balance. That’s the main player I’m thinking of. Simply because he’s our best shooter.
I guess my problem is that folks still want to blame Cal even though he coached them up to be in a position to do what they need to do !!!

Do you realize Rupp went to 6 final 4s in 40 years?

Depends on the team. Vs candy we didn't respond well to bullyball and were really fortunate to win. UT plays bullyball and used it to control us pretty easily most of the game.

This team expects refs to make calls instead of playing through contact. So If this team plays another bullyball team, it's going to be a dangerous matchup, because officiating will basically decide the outcome

We're trending the wrong way. We looked v like we didn't even care if we won. We came out so lethargic. WTF is wrong with Grady? When we lose in the NCAA tournament it's gonna look like today. This team has little chemistry after it was great in January and Feb. I'm usually optimistic but I'm not at all now.

The injuries screwed us. Cal thought he could okey inside out. Oscar showed an ability to score in a set. So now instead of running and spreading the floor we are forcing drives and trying tk thro it inside

That is so weak.Who has claimed they expected a championship every season? No coach deserves a lifetime contract.

Yep....way before you and the other soy boys come along who think Cal is the beginning and end of UK basketball.

When we had to set up until 11:30 to watch tape delays of the games or listen to them on the radio. When every game mattered.

Now, losses are just meh to you and your ilk. Cal can't be replaced. Cal must never be disparaged in any way. You all are under the spell of Cal because you believe his talk like school girls.

You have no clue what you are talking about man and have me totally misread but that isn't surprising. You have a one track agenda it seems.

BTW because you are older than me doesn't mean sh*t. I'm not 13...I've been around a while, long enough to remember tape delays- that is how I started watching UK.

You are full of insults and before you utter anymore nonsense...never said you were a bandwagon/troll, I said this board is full of them.

Ive seen how bad it can get. The Sutton years.

Cal is not the only coach in USA that could win at UK.

He just wants everyone to think that.
Unfortunately we have quite a few posters who believe UK began with Cal and will end with him.

You have people here that just scour through posts looking for negative Cal comments, just to tell people they aren’t real fans 😂.

You can only defend Cal with 2010-2015 for so long.

Cultists never question their leader. Never say anything other than praise for their leader. Repaet the same things their leader says.

You were probably a guy that used to mock Rick Barnes. Now Barnes punks Cal on the regular. Gotta sting for you so you have to keep making excuses for your poppy/ Suck it up butttercup.

Cultists? So I say we have bandwagon fans and/or trolls all over the message boards. You say that anyone who doesn't lose their sh*t 8 hours after a loss is in a cult.

Makes sense...

These guys on here act like it’s just Rafters I know die hard UK fans that hardly follow basketball anymore thanks to Cal and they won’t until he’s gone. They mostly just keep up with football or don’t watch it at all anymore. It makes me sick to my stomach as much as I love this program that Cal has took some peoples love for the program!
