Cal has not recruited any guys recently who can create and make their own shot. That’s a staple in his offensive scheme and without it the half court O is just stagnant and easy to defend.

Every team in the league has more athletic players than the Cats.

Amazes me how a game changes minds about a coach or a player so easily.

Everyone was all about this team a month ago now we have no chance. Bizarre and would make an interesting case study tbh.

Make up your mind. You say “a game” changed everyone’s mind but then you talk about fan perception from a month ago. So which is it?

I’ll give you a hint: in the last month we have lost two games to Tennessee BADLY, neither game we were ever in from the 15 minute mark of the first half. We also lost to an Arkansas team who is very ho-hum and got down by double digits early in that game too, just like we did versus LSU and Bama. So if you’re counting that’s a total of 5 games in the last month where we have had absolutely piss poor starts and have had to play catch up the rest of the way. We are 2-3 in those 5 games. Kellen Grady is also an ice cold 5-23 from downtown after shooting abour 45% on the season prior to the last 5 games.

Look, if you consider yourself an optimist, I have no problem with that. Go ahead and be optimistic. More power to you. But don’t act like there isn’t reason for concern, or that today’s game is the only reason people are panicking. We haven’t been the same since KU.

Have you been watching the same team I have the last month they peaked a month ago. Ever since then they have been on a slow decline every good team they have played they have lost too. This doesn’t bold well considering the NCAA tournament starts next week.

So you think Cal forgot how to coach them or what?

I know we have weaknesses. I also know we were within a rebound and a made shot of being tied in a game where everything that could go wrong did against a likely 3 seed.

I don't overreact. If you are looking for that it isn't coming from me.

Askew and Wheeler are the best we can do at Kentucky for starting point guards in the last two years????

I have concern. I'm definitely an optimist though, I'll conceed that.

Then how'd we shoot so well against Kansas, UT and UNCheat earlier in the season??

The guys could shoot ok then.
Not Ty Ty, he was 1-9(0-4 from 3), but Grady was 4-7(all 3's), Wheeler was 3-7(1-2 from 3) and Toppin was 4-4(1-1 from 3) 6-18 as a team from 3. Brooks had the game of his life with 27(0-1 from 3) making 9-10 FT's and he played pretty good today on the offensive end not so much on defense. We also had 19 assists.

Just have to make at least 33% as a team to be dominant. it opens everything else up. Cal KNOWS this, yet he continues to put too low of a value on making 3's. It's his biggest weakness even though it has bit him in the rear NUMEROUS times!!

he didn't seem to call off shooting the threes today.

we just couldn't hit for some reason.

Other than Oscar, our players play timid far too often. They don’t seem to have a fire like many of our opponents have. Need the eye of the tiger and play with a chip on their shoulder.

There are no Cal haters, just fans that expect and demand better than what’s been shown the last few years.
This! It’s quite comical to hear/see all the “Cal hater” comments. It’s literally all the ammo they have to counter with. It’s real simple, Cal hasn’t really produced since 2015.

Be careful what you wish for. In this day and age one bad coaching hire and it's easy to slip into a decade of irrelevancy. Thankfully we pulled the plug on Billy G quickly, but if we didn't nail the Cal hire we could have easily been where Indiana is now. Consistently making Elite 8s is not something you voluntarily decide to move on from.
We would be Indiana?! We would still have 7 national titles regardless of who was hired. Also, who’s to say we wouldn’t have made a solid hire and added that 8th title with another coach?

If Wheeler can make just enough for the defense to have to guard him, it opens up the defense for Grady Mintz and TyTy. But when Grady is leery of shooting the ball, doesn't feel comfortable and won't keep moving to get open , our offense struggles. Oscar is able to help scoring, but with his limited minutes due to fouls, it makes it that much more important for the guards to make shots.

Today's game was a prime example of how to beat Cal's UK team. I realize there aren't many other teams with the defenders UT has out there, but not being able to score is the easiest way to get BOUNCED in the NCAA Tournament.

It ain’t just here man. At all. IF an early bounce happens, there will be a lot of grumbling start.
This attitude right here us why the rest of the country points and laughs at the ridiculous, spoiled children in our fan base. We are a top 10 team, a projected 2 seed, 27 wins and counting. And you honestly believe that because you and your hunting buddies aren't satisfied, our hall of fame coach should be on the carpet!? Get over yourself, your opinion is meaningless to the people who write the checks. You don't know how good you have it.

He told Tom that NO TEAM is going to want to play UK going into the tournament... 🙄really?
I mean, how hard is it to prepare for UK? Same 💩 game in and game out. Just get back on D is all the opponent needs to worry about. And try and limit Oscar offensive rebounds. That’s it.

No inbounds plays to prepare for either lol.

Cal better be careful, Is get bounced early his rope gets a LOT shorter.

Dude...you are losing it. We could all argue there should or shouldn't be a leash on Cal but I can promise you there isn't one. Guy will retire when he wants to. Point, blank, period.

If he doesn’t make the final game some here will want him fired. Some still probably would. I’m at the point now where I kinda want them to get what they want and just see how bad it can get.
Ive seen how bad it can get. The Sutton years.

Cal is not the only coach in USA that could win at UK.

He just wants everyone to think that.

And also some people with their head in the sand.

If you think you are being a smart ***, you aren't. I pull for UK thick and thin.

Others on this board...we lose the sky is falling, the coach sucks, the players sucks...etc.

That isn't being a fan, that's being a jackass.

Exactly. Everybody kept saying that UK was fine, that once they got on a neutral court UK would own these teams. Welp, what happened?

Cal does the same things over and over and over. Barnes knows him like a book and is 10-7 against Cal since he got to UT. How in the world is that acceptable and ok with folks? Ho hum, they just keep repeating the Cal talking points.

No fear.

In Lexington, we shot 68% vs Tenn and beat them by 28.
In Knoxville, we lost TTW and lost by 13 shooting 34%.
In Tampa, Oscar got in foul trouble, we shot 34% and lost by 7.

Credit their defense but if we make shots and have our full roster, we can beat them again but have to fight for 40 minutes.
If this, if that......nothing but ifs

Yeah, I am sure the injuries hurt and set us back. TyTy and Wheeler missed 3 games right? That equates to 2 weeks of practice I would think. None of us know what is going on with them physically...any of them except for Toppins broken face.

Point is Cal was doing good then and now he sucks balls? I don't get it that part.

It seems to just be finger pointing and typical fan fodder that lacks any critical thinking.
UK was fortunate to win those games at Rupp without Wheeler and TyTy. Had those been road games, most likely Ls.

This team is not some juggernaut and hasn't been one all season.

Had we never had any injuries this is probably a 4 or 5 loss team and not 7.

We are top 5 in KenPom. That is what everyone points at every year.

There are no juggernauts in CBB this year.
