Well our current SOS is as high as its been all season or at least right up there at 29. That could account for some of the lackluster performances down the stretch. UK after today has played 11 games v the KP top 24 including 8 of those 11 away from Rupp including 6 of the 8 true road games. Let that sink in before you give up on this 26-7 team. They need to recharge the batteries this week.
They had time to recharge the batteries before the SEC Tournament. To no avail. Wheeler’s strengths are speed, handle, layups, assists and defense. His weakness is shooting. He cannot help the team shooting the ball. An occasional shot is fool’s gold. 4-25 in SEC tournament????

I love how people make statements tearing down a player when the facts are wrong!!
What did he shoot in both SEC games? Vandy 4-13. Tenn 3-11. 7-24 not 4-24. Better than I thought, but still not a strength. Notre Dame set the pattern for playing Wheeler

Still the point stands. No coach but Rupp defines UK.The program will go on fine when Cal leaves.
Be careful what you wish for. In this day and age one bad coaching hire and it's easy to slip into a decade of irrelevancy. Thankfully we pulled the plug on Billy G quickly, but if we didn't nail the Cal hire we could have easily been where Indiana is now. Consistently making Elite 8s is not something you voluntarily decide to move on from.

No fear.

In Lexington, we shot 68% vs Tenn and beat them by 28.
In Knoxville, we lost TTW and lost by 13 shooting 34%.
In Tampa, Oscar got in foul trouble, we shot 34% and lost by 7.

Credit their defense but if we make shots and have our full roster, we can beat them again but have to fight for 40 minutes.

You were not watching very closely...he pulled Brooks who was our total offense at the time for a change he was on a roll and he pulled him...why?
Because he was not playing defense. His man, James, hit the first three pointer over him. He does not play good defense. Missed the block out and let TN rebound the ball under the basket when we were making our late game charge

7 years without a number one seed, 9-16 last season, a losing record against ranked teams this year, and we have a top 5 recruit that’s a scorer that don’t want to play this year when we are having problems scoring the basketball as usual .

Cal has lowered down UK’s expectations so much that none of what I mentioned above bother a lot of people in here anymore and that’s not what UK basketball was built on!

Pretty sure the reason he pulled him at that time is because he air mailed a ball into the upper rows on a pass. Brooks has skill unfortunately he does some stupid stuff at critical times. Turnovers and throwing up a three when just getting a needed basket is more important.

how does cal stop 2-20 3 pt shooting?
Recruit more DOGS!!!
Run sets that get your best shooters more shots.
Stop whatever you're doing that causes your best shooters to lose confidence(goes all the way back to Booker) in March
Stop bringing in PG's that can't score away from the basket. It allows opponents to play 5 on 4.

Those 4 things are something a coach making $10 million/year should figure out. Instead he wants to BASH the media and fans when these things are brought up. Doesn't take a" Basketball Benny" to be able to see these deficiencies.

I’ve gone from being a Cal nut hugger to now a Cal hater. All in weeks. Says a lot about the board for sure.

Amazes me how a game changes minds about a coach or a player so easily.

Everyone was all about this team a month ago now we have no chance. Bizarre and would make an interesting case study tbh.

It's the way the team has been playing lately. The Kansas game was amazing but lately they have looked weak and our guards have really struggled.

I said it. And I’m not alone.

Is 10 years without a title; seven years without a final four acceptable here? Then answer is not only no it’s HELL no.

Cal has got to start delivering some hardware and soon.
When all the talent he's had is considered? No. It's absolutely not acceptable. You can't go around celebrating all the NBA talent you've had, and conveniently gloss over the lack of results you've had with all that talent. You paid to get elite blue blood results for the University of Kentucky. Not get guys drafted. And truth be told, almost all of those guys get drafted if they went to any other top school anyway.

Yeah, I am sure the injuries hurt and set us back. TyTy and Wheeler missed 3 games right? That equates to 2 weeks of practice I would think. None of us know what is going on with them physically...any of them except for Toppins broken face.

Point is Cal was doing good then and now he sucks balls? I don't get it that part.

It seems to just be finger pointing and typical fan fodder that lacks any critical thinking.

Have you been watching the same team I have the last month they peaked a month ago. Ever since then they have been on a slow decline every good team they have played they have lost too. This doesn’t bold well considering the NCAA tournament starts next week.

Then how'd we shoot so well against Kansas, UT and UNCheat earlier in the season??

The guys could shoot ok then.

I think there's at least some truth to this. Grady for instance. Are his legs shot? Maybe his body just can't handle a full season of ball at this level coming from where he did.

Really imploring here because his regression is insane.

He's hesitating when he should shoot and shooting when he should pass or drive, he's dribbling into a bad shot from a good shot! Repeatedly! It's infuriating and slightly inexplicable.
