Cal post game rants

I agree with this. Cal always lets the other team dictate the pace. I bet he wants the kids to learn how to play in a half court game but you could of ran Vandy out of the gym is they would of just run it up and down the floor
Instead, he was content waking it up and playing right into their zone. I get doing it a few times to get some sets against the zone but it gets frustrating watching it game after game
This is my biggest pet peeve about Cal's coaching, letting the other team dictate the pace. We are faster and more athletic than 99% of teams we play. We should attack every single time. I can't stand UNC but I love the way they play. Flying down on every possession no matter if off a rebound or made shot. Their secondary fast break is usually really good too. Just look how great we played against them not only this year, but many times. I think trying to play a half court game against them in the elite 8 in 2017 was one of the 2 main factors why we lost. That and officiating. We beat then earlier that year playing fast. I realize it took an insane performance from Monk and a late 3 but still. Slowing down that 2017 team took away our greatest strength, being much faster than anyone else. We barely beat Wichita state in the second round that year because we let them dictate an ugly half court game.

Cal has been the same way since day one and people wanna act like it just happened. Nobody said a word when we went to the final four every year lol. He can yell as much as he wants as long as we get better and win.

The criticism of Cal not being for UK is ludacris in my opinion. That’s just crazy talk.

Cal coaches these players like a Pee Wee league coach does with a bunch of 8 year olds. Is there any other coach in the country that has to coach non stop for nearly every single play of most games? It's got to be hard to play well when you are constantly being yelled at and told what to do non stop. Watching the highlights of other games and the other coaches spend most of their time sitting or standing and watching the game with an occasional call out to the team.
When, when he has done “as other coaches” in previous seasons he was chastised for not caring and not coaching.
I agree that he that he is overboard... but would anyone care if we were undefeated?

I just think it is not serving the players well. Who can concentrate when someone is jumping up and down, running out on the floor, screaming and yelling? I know that is his MO, I just don’t think it is helpful.

Tell me, how many coaches has UK had that coached for a decade without a title. I'll wait.
The circumstances are what matter- not the coach. After 1958, Rupp never won another title. From 1979 to 1995, UK didn’t win a title. From 1999 to 2011, UK didn’t win a title.
I have a feeling the next coach will not be a One and Done coach and that will put him behind the 8 ball in recruiting the first few years. It’s going to be very difficult to follow Cal the way he recruits.
And by the way, tell me another UK coach after Rupp who has four final fours besides Cal. I’ll wait.

This thread is the biggest pile of crap I've ever read.

Many of you have lost your mind. It truly is unbelievable. Some people spending way too much time on here and getting brain rot I guess.

Bunch of jokers arm chair QBing like they know better than him. Needs to hire a coach and be a PR guy, Red Lighting Herro, not here for university, 1-10 not good enough, can't coach, yells too much...blah blah blah.

Cal hasn't changed one bit at UK. In fact he is the same coach that he was at UMass. He has always been loud during games for 30 years. Same guy that tried to fight John Cheney!

The only resemblance he had to the coach at UMass is that he was loud there too.

Well considering Sutton, Pitino and Billy G weren’t here a decade, it’s a moronic question. How’s that for an answer?
Quit nit picking. How about 5+ years. You're the one with the moronic opinion. Dont get bitchy with me because you painted yourself into a corner. I'm pretty sure you and everyone else understand the spirit of my question.

Your question is nonsense for a multitude of reasons. UK has won exactly 4 titles in the past 60 years. And half the coaches at UK since Rupp, have been there less than 10 years. So there is an equal chance that the next coach won’t be here a decade. It also doesn’t take into account Rupp didn’t win any titles his last 14 years and Hall won one in 13 years. So your decade nonsense is a total joke. And two of the three coaches who were here less than a decade didn’t win a ncaa title. You need to clearly quit while you are way behind.

Now. Name another UK coach besides Rupp and Cal who have been to 4 final fours. I’ll wait.

Nice dance moves. Try answering the question.

So final fours are your goal? Btw, Cal has the lowest title winning % of any UK coach once reaching the final four.
Well don’t tell me it’s NCAA title or bust because UK has sucked *** winning them the last 60 years. And as if reaching final fours is not better than flaming out earlier in the tournament. Lol. UK has been to 12 final fours in the past 60 years. Cal has 1/3 of them. Once again you need to quit with your ridiculous takes. It’s getting embarrassing for you.

Still dancing and moving goal posts. You're the one who first brought up titles then you pivoted once you were trapped. You're acting amazingly like @zipp. You're about the only one who thinks I'm the one embarrassing myself. Its amusing that you wont simply admit you over played your hand. Keep it up, I enjoy the chuckle.

One would think after you being abused all day you would give it break. But you prove to be a glutton for punishment. [laughing]
I know, you should call your fantasy place "Zipp Island", a place where blowhards can relax and pretend they're smarter than every one else. It's a great place. You have endless admiring fans, cutouts of course, a huge dance floor and goal posts on wheels for ease of movement.

Yep, that's the place. You need to understand it isnt good for you to live there though. You should only visit for short stays or the psychotic arrogance of the place might just stick with you.
