Gabriel did not belong back in the game
Zone clearly not working

I don't want you hear fight and compete. He recruits the freshmen over and over. Means he has to coach better.

Every time we lose a game, someone with 14 posts comes on here and starts a thread about Cal. Just like clockwork.

We always have more quality depth than anyone. Would like to see our focus on forcing inside from the get go to get opponents in foul trouble early. Coming out jacking threes is bothersome. Just what everybody wants us to do so they can save their bigs.

Nah, they lost to a bad Boston College team too. Both of those losses are worse than UT. Teams lose games. It happens. But the hypocrisy in your post is hilarious. I’m not sure you understand how irrational you sound.
And we have beaten VT and UofL, that's the high water mark of the season .....Woo Hoo !

We went zone because of foul trouble. Most games a dozen posters are saying Cal is getting out coached because he's too stubborn to play zone.

Wenyen came in because PJ was hurt and Diallo needed to be pulled out to get coached to after some awful play. We didn't have many options.

Exactly This! OP is just too dumb to realize it. This was exactly what I was thinking as well.

I would love to watch any of these troll posters try to figure out how to coach a basketball game in front of 15,000 fans instead of the safety of their recliners.

I'm pretty sure there would be a puddle under their chairs before the game even started.

Long time reader of this forum, and before anyone questions my UK fandom, I was born and raised outside of Ashland, KY and have been a loyal fan my whole life. With that being said, the zone imo, absolutely killed us. There is no way it should look that bad. All they had to do was flash a guy to the foul line and have another roaming the baseline and they tore us up repeatedly. This team, being so long, and athletic should not have been able to be scored on as easy as Tenn. made it look. (That I give credit to Barnes - never thought much of him as a coach at Texas, but have been much more impressed with him at Tenn. - at least during the UK games. Players, playing with their hands down and poor rotations will surely be addressed so that hopefully playing zone with this team will become a strength, but right now I have no faith in it. Hope to learn from this to become a stronger team.
As for PJ, while I admit he has frustrated me more than most on this current team. He is starting to look beast. I just wish he would quit the flexing crap.(TJ used to drive me crazy with this.) You know it is pretty bad when you are worried more about flexing after a great block than making a play to secure the ball. I almost jump out of my seat on that one.

Good post. The flexing nonsense should have already been stopped by Cal.

So 38-1 and a FF is a failure? And it was another season that ended with a game that had several controversial calls or non calls that was reffed by John Higgins.
Not a failure record wise, but short of what should have been an undefeated NC season ..... Disagree ??

I would say that I disagree. To go into a season and expect a title is unreasonable. Titles in basketball are so difficult to obtain because of the amount of competition and the randomness of the sport. Also I would add that getting a few breaks from the officials doesn’t hurt either. UNC last year is a perfect example of that. The goal every season should be to have a team that’s capable of making a long tourney run and I think Cal has done that almost every year he’s been here.

Why should it have been an undefeated season? We’re not entitled to anything. Not to mention we had a half dozen close calls before the Wisconsin game.

Saban gets to keep those 5 stars for at least THREE years. Cal gets them for 9 months. Saban doesn't have to worry about his whole starting offense and defense leaving after the season. UK lost 93% percent of their offense from last season. Starting 5 kids who never played a college game in their until this year and they are 12-3.
Rupp coached at UK 40 years and won 5 titles. K has been at duke for 38 years I believe and won 5 titles and several 1st and 2nd round losses in the tourney. Dean Smith was at UNC over 30 years with all that talent and won 2 titles. They are hard to get.
This Is Cal's 9th year and it ain't over. If you are one who expects UK to win it every year, you are part of the problem, not Cal.
Imagine if Cal had got to keep Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, Davis, MKG, Towns, Booker, Murray, Fox, Monk, Bam etc for THREE years.

That team will come closer to an undefeated season than any team EVER will. No one has gone undefeated since 1976, 1991 UNLV and 2015 UK are the only 2 to even sniff an undefeated season, and probably will be the only 2.
That is what is so gut wrenching.

Are really saying that Cal struggles in game because we didn't go undefeated? That's a pretty tough standard to acheive.
He did some major questionable things against Wisconsin, not playing Ulis and allowing Harrison and company to slow down the tempo too much, the team went stale and allowed Wiscy to get back in the game and steal our NC hopes.

Oh there’s no doubt it was gut wrenching. I was there, and I remember being sick to my stomach leaving the Dome. My wife and I had a room downtown. We walked back to the hotel, grabbed our stuff, and drove all the way home. I had a cooler of beer, and drank 8 by the time we pulled into the driveway. It’s an hour and a half drive.

Yeah, yeah, and screwed up the last 4 minutes by a coach too loyal to the Harrisons.

How is it ignorant brainiac ? Saban gets a boat load of 5* players and wins NC, he coaches and develops players, yes several freshmen play big roles, even at QB. Cal gets players to the NBA, but comes up short the majority of the time of the ultimate goal the National Championship, should have AT Least 3 by now !

Because NFL RULES REQUIRE SABAN'S KIDS TO STAY 3 YEARS MINIMUM.

I'd say a junior Davis, Cousins or KAT would be pretty good, huh.

Awful, awful, awful comparison by you.

Once again, in the 8 and a half years Cal has been our coach we have the most regular season wins, the most tournament wins by far and double the amount of final fours of the next closest teams. Unc, Duke, and Louisville all have 2. Well not for long with Louisville. This is with us missing the tournament one of those years. He is doing this with the youngest team in the country annually. Dude knows how to coach. It's just growing pains.

Why the Hell would he not be loyal and have the Harrison's out there? They were maybe the most clutch players we've had. They carried us to the title game in 2014 being clutch as hell. They saved us from losses in 2015 and had just came up clutch to win us the Notre dame game. Aaron's big 3 with under two minutes left and Andrew hit the game winning free throws.

You would've had to be an idiot to not have them out there with their clutch history. Could you imagine if they were pulled off the floor and we still lost? People would have lost their **** because we didn't have our 2 clutch players in.

Please stop with the Ulis Crap. That was not the sophomore Ulis. Wisconsin's taller pg Jackson took him to the basket every time he was in the game and drew fouls. Watch the game again. For the record, the Harrison's are what kept us in the game as they were the 2nd and 3rd leading scorers in the game.

I will agree that Cal has bad coaching habits such as letting the other team set the tempo. With all the athletes we've had, especially 2015 we should have attacked and force the tempo in our favor. He goes to stall ball way to early in games. It's the literal definition of playing not to lose.He also slows us down during the season, he says because every game in the tournament is a half court game. Last year was a prime example. That team should have kept playing fast the whole season, that's when we were playing our best. Other than that he is a GREAT hall of fame coach.

Another bash Cal thread? TJ just wondering if RR is running a contest for posters on how many bash Cal threads can be started in a month? I would be willing to bet that the posters starting these threads and posting negative comments couldn't coach a fly to a pile of poop. Experts Your Not. Cry Babies well look in the mirror and answer that question for yourself.

It's not that simple.

He called garbage zones when we didn't need it. The point of UK running zone is situational. When you're down as much as we were and the "sit back" zone had already been eaten alive (they CAN'T run it properly) you've got problems as a coach if you can't switch out of that ****.

I think Cal allowed them to fall on their face. He's not stupid. A blind idiot could see we needed to force Tennessee into some quick shots and maybe a turnover at that point, Cal just, did nothing.

But anyway, I had to watch the game with about 10 drunk vol fans and I'm currently wearing a UT hoodie. And I usually make fun of stupid bets like this makes me feel all the worse.

****takes another shot.

How many times have we seen games like this where Cal says I let them play how they wanted and they got beat? Now maybe they will listen to how they need to play and then they come together as a team. He does this on purpose during some games during the season to prove a point. I believe it works more than it hurts. He will take lumps now for March success anytime. Most UK fans will take that trade.

It worked out great. One Higgins call from being in another final four, and most likely a NC. I guess it's Cal's fault that Higgins was assigned to the game.
I think you've taken my comment out of context. I was commenting back to someone that was saying that duke was getting all the talent and having more success than UK. I was defending Cal and UK.
