You guys are a joke. Hate the op for whatever reason you want but his post was factual. Cal gets out coaches in atleast half of our big games and all conference games every single year. If it weren’t for overpowering cupcakes early in the year he would be out coached 3/4ths of the time.

He won’t play zone when it’s obviously needed and then plays it tonight when it’s obviously not working. You can say it was because we were short on players but if he’d man up and make Vanderbilt play instead of sitting out for the draft then he wouldn’t have had to go zone. He brings every bit of this crap on himself.
OP is an obvious troll.

Good grief....stop with the out coached posts. For whatever reason, our young team looked scared to death most of the game. They were beaten by some experienced players.
Why can't so many on this board see Cal is not Nick Saban, a guy who recruits the best, but coaches and demands excellence. He deserves getting bashed when this team of all-stars puts up a pathetic, heartless performance.

He had Tai Wynyard on the bench with zero fouls. He's played adequate when subbing this season.

UK announced before the game Tai wasn’t playing tonight due to a back issue. We didn’t have any bodies. Baker and Vanderbilt don’t play — Tai was out tonight and we fit foul trouble. On the road in the SEC against a good team is a recipe for disaster.

I missed that one...

This board screams, “Cal needs to play Zone” and PJ sux...

People act like they have answer, but just act as contrarians and believe they’re smarter than Cal.

No the manta is you play what is working. Tonight the man actually worked much better than zone even in the first half before foul trouble. I understand why we went zone 2nd half but you simply can't stay in it regardless of foul trouble when they are gashing us like they were. Normally I gripe because of staying in the man defense, tonight just the opposite, cal continues to stick with what isn't working in games like this, truly baffling!!!

While there was some scary bad play in the second half, I think Cal secretly likes these road losses every now and again.

The zone wasn't doing it, but the man was just as bad. Knox looked lost every defensive possession in the second half, SKJ looked like he would rather be playing volleyball. Passing was miserable all around. We just got out-played.

His overall record is skewed severely by 3 seasons. Something like 115-6 in his 3 best years. Add up his record in all the other years and you’ll see he’s an average coach at best. If Cal doesn’t have a team loaded with nba players and all stars then he can’t win.

PJ out for the game. Gabriel was 3 for 4 from 3. You're either a troll, an idiot, or both. Pick.
Wow, you the first in this click of morons that I noticed.... You all are probably too stupid to explain this to... but he thinks Gabriel should not have been back out there because of foul trouble... some coaches save them for later in the game.

I don't care so much that we lost. I mean, our chance of winning was probably less than 50%, but what is frustrating is seeing a continuation of certain trends:

-Knox playing 30+ minutes as a wing despite being objectively terrible
-Disjointed, hero ball offense
-Slap-dick decision making
-Zone meme
-Short leash for Richards

A few of those are tied to our offensive identity issue. Knox was supposed to be the dude we'd play through, but he has no playmaking ability paired with marginal shot-making ability. We need to figure it out, and I'm sure we'll discover something. We've made some pretty good revelations as the season has progressed in all but one season with Cal.

This team will come together by year’s end and will make a Sweet-16 run. Then, most of them will leave whether they are ready or not (see Lamb, Dakari, Twins, Teague, Humphries, Briscoe etc.) and then we’ll have an all-new bunch next season, ready for another Elite-8 run, we may even know their names by the time the SEC starts.

Add up Cals total record and he is a Hof coach man you are wrong.
Career Record (major schools): 26 Years, 706-195, .784 W-L%

Schools: Massachusetts (193-71), Memphis (252-69) and Kentucky (261-55)

Conference Champion: 17 Times (Reg. Seas.), 14 Times (Tourn.)

NCAA Tournament: 18 Years (51-17), 6 Final Fours, 1 Championship

Now if that is average then what is above average ?

DUDE! Your just mad because our freshman (with no Superstar type) got beat by upperclassmen on the road. Cal is a great coach and perfect for UK. Try and stop being so pissed and support the team and coaches.
OR! Just be mad !

3 Sophomores and two Juniors in the starting line-up. The only senior is the back up PG who is a grad transfer from Howard University.. This is not some senior laden veteran team.

There are no Red Shirts to date but some of these T/Fs have not played yet and will likely be Red Shirted unless injury forces them into the lineup.

Unlike Calipari's 5* One and Dones, nobody on UT was rated above 3*. They were forced to play early because of the lack of recruiting that came with having 3 H/Cs in 3 years with Barnes being the 3rd and the one inheriting the mess.

It's taken a while, but they have been the surprise of College basketball this season.Projected to finish 13th in the SEC in Preseason They have played and beaten 3 ranked teams including Ky tonight.

Lack of depth cost them wins over #1 Villanova, # 11 North Carolina and in OT at Arkansas. All single digit losses. Had just a plain crappy game in their other loss to Auburn.

But they hustle, hit the glass even though nearly every team is a lot taller and they are unselfish. Among the nation's leaders on points off assists

Problem wasn't the zone it was a complete lack of energy coming out of the half. We stood still like 5 statues in the zone and that's easy. We make fun of Barnes but bottom line is he lit a fire under his guys at half and we came out the opposite. That and PJ cramping was the whole story.

Them grapes is awfully sour.

You don';t get it do you?

EVERY FRIGGING BODY was supposed to beat them. They went on the road and beat NC State. NC State knocked off # 3 Duke tonight.

Every win they put up is a humiliation to the team they beat because they weren't supposed to be able to compete with anyone decent.

That S/F of ours, Admiral Schofield is 6'4" tall. He kicked *** again tonight against much taller Puddy Tats. 9 rebounds, 20 points, 4 steals, 4 assists, and even 1 blocked shot. Not bad for a little fat kid hardly anybody wanted.

They have already won more games than they were thought capable of so I'm content. They will have everybody back next year as unlike Calipari's annual "Rent-a-Team" they don't have anyone that the NBA would be interested in.

They will be even better by then.

I do have one complaint on Cal, and this quote from after the game sums it up ...

On sticking with zone when UT scored on it repeatedly: [Shrugging] “I mean, if you had something else I could’ve played, I would’ve played that, too. [Shrugs] And even then, they threw and threw to a guy standing [under the basket], who pushed my man out of the way and an and-one. What? And then another play we’re standing there and they lob the ball and my guy watches them tip it in. What? So we could’ve played man and been just as bad.”

I realize PJ had cramps, Tai was out and Vanderbilt is hurt ... but he recruited this roster. If we don't have enough depth (even when 1-2 people are out) that is on him. He needs to either recruit less OAD's or 1 more 4-year type player he can bring in off the bench.

You pathetic putz.Pity Tats are never beaten unless the officials side with the opponent. Yada, Yada, Yada. Heard it for the last 50 years.

God what a pathetic wretch you are

Your team got whipped from 3 point land, whipped on the glass, whipped from the floor and at the FT line. You even had the UT BENCH equal the ENTIRE Pity Tat team in the number of assists.

Take your excuses and blow 'em out your ***.

Oh please. You sound no different than fans of every other team that can’t get one and dones. We’ve heard from all of them at one point in time. Even Kansas, UNC, and Duke fans. That is until the coaches from those respective schools decided that’s what they had to do to compete with UK.

Now they clamour for every single one they can sign. Funny how that works.

I guess this win is your Super Bowl like the previous two years. But enjoy this win because you'll be watching Kentucky in March like you usually do when the Vols are sitting at home.

It’s a meaningless regular season game. We weren’t good tonight, take the lump and move on.

Can we please stop with this BS around here that, quite frankly, is a built in excuse for Cal because he's had some slippery years and bailed out because of a tournament run?

These games DO matter. There is almost no such thing as a meaningless game. The only game I've seen really was totally meaningless is the SEC title game. Playing a ranked UT team on their floor at this point in the season with our resume is A HUGE GAME. Completely not arguable.

And Cal definitely needs to turn it around. Coaches like Rick Barns and Steve Alford are eating his lunch and dinner.

“Cal needs to zone!!!!!!”

Cal goes zone.

“Cal needs man to man!!!!!!!!111one111!!”

It's not that simple.

He called garbage zones when we didn't need it. The point of UK running zone is situational. When you're down as much as we were and the "sit back" zone had already been eaten alive (they CAN'T run it properly) you've got problems as a coach if you can't switch out of that ****.

I think Cal allowed them to fall on their face. He's not stupid. A blind idiot could see we needed to force Tennessee into some quick shots and maybe a turnover at that point, Cal just, did nothing.

But anyway, I had to watch the game with about 10 drunk vol fans and I'm currently wearing a UT hoodie. And I usually make fun of stupid bets like this makes me feel all the worse.

****takes another shot.

Please explain to us how having 3 injured bigs has anything to do with OADs?

Seniors get injured as well.

This reasoning makes less sense than any other ever posted.
