Not upset at the game. Do think it's time for Cal to make some fairly large changes in the way he runs his offense. Just too much standing, iso's and hero ball for the college game. That's changing in the NBA as well with the way GS and some others play. Think there is a lot of talent, but a motion offense with less dribbling and more passing is where the game is headed back to. The defense will be fine. Wouldn't mind if Cal mixed it up a little from time to time but he is a defensive mastermind. They'll be fine there either way.

Cal has never ran a dynamic offense.

Just ask WVU in 10 and Wisconsin.. we simply dont have smooth half court sets.

A lot of the 50/50 balls we didn't get in the first half were due to fortuitous bounces in Kansas favor.

I would like to say that, but there are no knee burns in our locker room. Diallo was by far the worst tonight hustling after loose balls.

You stick to that church league buddy.

I really expected to see some zone, but you can beat after those offensive rebounds in the 1st quarter no way any coach goes zone.
Interestingly Cal said in the post game pressure he was going to play the ENTIRE game in zone but the assistants talked him out of it...and then he threw some subtle shade at DUKE for playing there entire game in zone.

I know. Doesn't mean he can't adapt a little. This team especially is gonna need some easier shots. Now maybe they can do that by creating turnovers but his defense has never really done that either. Anyway. Not all bad tonight. We held a pretty good team to 35% shooting. Should have actually won if you look at the numbers.

Kind of odd. Not surprised with Cal, who the hell knows?

And for Cal to force feed him the ball in the post 6,237,392 times (with ZERO success) in the last 3 min play after play is absolutely mind boggling.
I noticed early on in the first half he was in a world of his own as im sure most did, how Cal didnt notice is beyond me. He basically handed the defense two passes in the second half. Like i said above he had 4 good blocked shots but man, i thought he was going to be the one steady force on this team. He folded tonight. Im not nitpicking...but I even noticed him half *** going for loose balls and rebounds.

I played real basketball buddy. Sorry about your luck. Not trying to offend you. Just simply stating a very simple fact. You don't play man to man to INCREASE rebounding. If that's church league then count me in I guess. Haha. Anyway. Its not that important now. So, you win I guess.

Ratface plays to win the game, Cal gets paid to put
youths in the "Millionaires Club"

Yeah, remember how he used to play zone all the time at UMASS and Memphis!

Oh that's right he didn't regardless of not putting a bunch into the NBA and he just is a man to man coach.

Hell, before today I can hardly remember K playing a lock of zone. I guess the NBA made him do it.

You all need to stop pretending man is some weirdo outlier and that most of the best defensive coaches don't live by it and further that it has been the bread and butter of some fantastic defensive teams for us.

You could also stop pretending you know what you are talking about on this knowing that when you hitch the most about it are seemingly the worst match ups to utilize it.
You know you don't give a cap about zone like y'all keep going on about or you wouldn't be a Kentucky fan. We've always primarily been a man team for decades and multiple coaches. Pitino would occasionally utilize that amoeba zone which operates on man principles but when he was here he was 90% man as well.

This has just become something to whine about and is about nothing else. We hired a man coach, I recall no significant use of zone his whole career. Go cheer for Syracuse or bust out some old Temple film, Cheney did it even better.

Definitely do it in the balls, it is more important to cut off the breeding than for you to die yourself.

Most of those shots from outside that they missed were deep or rushed. Our perimeter defense wasn't bad. A zone would of given them more time to set their feet and I'm sure they would of shot better.
How about continuing to front their big when Kansas was just lobbing it over the top every time?

Or what seemed like 50 straight possessions of posting up Washington who then proceeds to act like the ball is on fire.

But hey, next possession, right back to Washington on the block.

I thought it was strange that Washington was playing so poorly, and then with five minutes to go Cal starts calling for them to get him the ball on the block every time down. It was obvious.

Agree Mash. Our offensive scheme is horrid. I have never liked it. Many of our guys cannot beat defenders one on one. Cal needs screens and back picks and baseline picks to free up these guys to score. When was the last time you ever saw one of our guys backdoor someone for a layup? And I dont mean that one lob play they run from time to time. Just wish the man would change things up.

It is ridiculous to place blame on Cal this early in the season.
Wait until the tourney to blame him. That is where he is stubborn and costs us titles. Fact.

Would have been better if Green would have participated when he was on the floor.

Yeah, Green struggles to stay in front of his man or defend generally. I think his biggest learning curve will be on the defensive end. He's just not a great athlete (relatively speaking, of course), and therefore I think he's going to have to rely heavily on positioning and cerebral skills.

But, I still really like his potential to be a great college PG. I think he is smart and advanced beyond his years in knowing how to play the position. He just needs time and experience at his current level to figure things out and gain confidence. I envision him eventually being one of those heady experienced PGs that opposing teams hate to see.
