Where did I imply Mitch was in favor of Texas Tech's seed? Where was I bashing Mitch? My original post was to ask Mitch if he was in the room when they mis-seeded Texas Tech. If so, how can a team be seeded 10th overall and not have one poll or metric that confirms the seed.
Well, you started throwing the implication word around so I ran with it. That said, here is how you IMPLIED he was somehow complicit or lacking insight on Tech.
So what if he was in the room? Your very mention of him in that context suggests you suspect he was somehow remiss or otherwise out of line. Fact remains these seedings are done by COMMITTEE!!! Mitch can no more override or veto any decision they make than you can. He's a player on a team and I bet he's a small one. I don't know what he voted or even if they vote. I know only that he has one man's input among many and machines may make the biggest contribution of all. Even suggesting the man is somehow responsible for our seeding or the overall seeding is ludicrous. Note that I'm not saying you specifically are accusing him but your post sure seems to bring him into that conversation totally out of context.
If you want to know what drives these odd ball seeding and bracket decisions, follow the same thing you'd follow with any sort of corruption. Follow the money and TV ratings in this case. A lot of people LOVE to watch us win. A lot of people LOVE to watch us lose. Not that many really don't give a damn about us. This translates to interest and viewership. Are we getting screwed intentionally every year? Probably not. Are we getting used and exploited? Almost certainly. Not a damn thing Mitch can do about that. You have to deal with the corruption. Everyone knows where that comes from and very darn little a single member institution can do to change it.
Cal seems to be the only sane person in the conversation. I agree with him. He likes his basketball team. They have games to play. He's absolutely correct. At this point, that's all that matters.
