He was so bad the last time he played that UK's radio crew had they been able would have drug him off the floor themselves. I've never heard the radio crew be that hard on a player before. They were pissed and questioning why he wasn't taken out of the game sooner so yes he's turned it around. Good players can do that.

Make no mistake, Cal is the one that played him tonight, he didn't come into the game once Cal left, he was already playing him in both halves. I wouldn't bet on the exact same minutes but Cal was true to his word that Allen was getting his chance tonight just like Cal had said all week. I think Boston would have played more had Cal not gotten tossed but that doesn't mean Allen would have played less. They played together after Cal left.

Before he was so afraid of making a mistake and being yanked that he played tight as a banjo spring. Let’s not act like other guys haven’t had terrible consecutive games and were allowed to continually make mistakes while a few get yanked for 1-2 errors. I’m sorry but Cal doesn’t get credit for Allen’s play tonight.

Jedwar is awesome. All I've done is provide the data that we have been given this week. I'm not married to an opinion so I can be happy that UK won and that Allen played great without looking for someone to blame it on.

With respect to every coach and player involved, Cal has absolutely no credibility when it comes to what most fans want. Since this is a fan board he’s going to be seen as public enemy number 1. I’ve been expressing this for years now, Cal is not your guy if you wish to see UK continue to be the top program of all time. These kinds of comments are exactly why I believe this. Even when there’s no logical reason to excuse not playing Allen (except the protection of his preferred players) he still finds some bs like this to try and pass off.

To be honest, it’s downright insulting.

Until today, Allen had only played 20 minutes, and he only played 1 minute in his last game(12/19). I don't think he improved that much in the time since then. If he did, then some of the others need to follow his lead then.

Not that I disagree but we both know that isn't going to happen and I'm all for Boston playing far less minutes than he has been. When you gamble your season on recruits like Boston and Clarke I think you force yourself into giving them bigger chances.

I agree, but Boston and Clarke have been so bad, that trying to get them going has cost us several games.
All those close games would have been wins if he put the best lineups in to win games. You can do both, but Cal doesn't feel that way.
I'm stunned at how bad Boston and Clarke are. They look like walk ons.

Cal did at least make one wise comment tonight. He said post-game that after Allen's performance, he has no choice now but to play him more. He went on to say that other players who were playing ahead of Allen now should be playing behind him. I can only hope he's finally seen the light and will give Allen a ton of Boston's minutes and some of Clarke's as well. If he had to prove to Cal that he could play, I think he's now done that.

You make a good point but an awful choice of players for your example. Vanderbilt never started and averaged 17 minutes, and earned those minutes with elite rebounding. Wenyen didn't produce at a 5 star level but was splitting time with serviceable but not great Derek Willis (who got more minutes than him). Brooks only played 15 minutes a game last year with nobody at his position behind him and did ok with those minutes, certainly not terrible for a freshman. Just because we're pissed at how this season is going and at Cal doesn't mean we have to denigrate our players.

Let’s correct the record here. Wenyen was getting the majority of the minutes until it was clear Willis was the better option. Only THEN did DW wind up with more minutes.

Why was Allen playing the same minutes your son, Mr. "Earned Not Given", the guy as skilled in playing as you are in coaching, had? Is it because he's not a five star and he doesn't want to use Lexington as a 6 month pit stop on his way to G-league, so you can promote your one & done crap?

All of the guys you mentioned did not start except Skal. He was removed from the starting lineup after the first month or so. Vanderbilt would have started but due to his injuries couldn't consistently get on the floor. Two of the 4 guys you mentioned stayed more than year. I understand that you hate Cal as our coach but there are other , more accurate examples you could have used. Just saying.
