I dislike Cal for this fiasco, but hes given us a ton of great moments/years. I could never hate him

What’s sad is that if we had won a few more games and hadn’t been sucking so bad Allen wouldn’t have played tonight or probably ever.
Why do these guys coming in with 5 stars
beside their name move ahead of guys like Dontae, Willis, Miller, and even Quickley.
Quickleys experience was close to the same as Allen. Cal had to play him too.

Allen had to "earn" it. What did Boston and Clarke have to do? It is a real shame that playing time and starting positions seem to be dictated by the number of stars a player has rather than what they actually do on the court.

I am so happy Bruiser kept Boston's *** on the bench the final 3 minutes of regulation and during both the OT's. That is what any coach who wants to win and do what is best for the team would have done. But I bet Flint will now be in Cal's dog house for not playing the brick layer.

People have been bashing our assistants all year for being ,low quality and "yes men". But at least in this case, the assistants showed better judgment than Cal by putting the right combination of players on the floor to win the game. Cal is the problem, not the players, not the assistants, not the fans. At this ;point it seems clear that everyone involved knows better than Cal. That is sad. WTF is wrong with that guy?

All they had to do was breathe air and be a 5* recruit. What you can actually do on the basketball floor doesn’t matter at UK now

You make a good point but an awful choice of players for your example. Vanderbilt never started and averaged 17 minutes, and earned those minutes with elite rebounding. Wenyen didn't produce at a 5 star level but was splitting time with serviceable but not great Derek Willis (who got more minutes than him). Brooks only played 15 minutes a game last year with nobody at his position behind him and did ok with those minutes, certainly not terrible for a freshman. Just because we're pissed at how this season is going and at Cal doesn't mean we have to denigrate our players.

You make a good point but an awful choice of players for your example.

I had the same thought when reading his post. There were a lot better choices for the point he was trying to make like Diallo, Whitney, Skal, Nick Richards (the freshman version) and, of course, Boston this year. Guys who were given starting spots from day 1 despite really sucking and doing nothing to earn it.

Allen should have played more then he had prior to this game. The historically bad shooting numbers speak for themselves.

Allen is a humble guy. He’s not going to say he deserves more playing time. He will put it on himself. But ask yourself, do you think Allen was a substantially different player 3 weeks ago? Usually players don’t change overnight. Also, do you think he would have played nearly as many minutes in the second half if Cal were coaching?

Whoever evaluated Boston and came away saying he was the 5th or 6th best recruit, should lose their job. I don’t mean to dump on the kid, but not only is he not a lottery pick, he's not even a G-League player right now. He would get dominated in the GL.

Cal needs to be honest with himself and see that Boston is not what everyone thought. If Boston didn’t have 5 stars next to his name, he would get fewer minutes than Johnny David. He is not a good basketball player.

I wouldn't bet on the exact same minutes but Cal was true to his word that Allen was getting his chance tonight just like Cal had said all week. I think Boston would have played more had Cal not gotten tossed but that doesn't mean Allen would have played less. They played together after Cal left.

They are trying to defend him for the same reason Cal is going on with his nonsense, trying to save face and not admit they’re savior was wrong and they were wrong for defending every breathe he breathes.
