Cade should sit this one out

IMHO, Cade should sit out on Saturday and let Hill and Labas get some game experience. Then, IF Cade has progressed enough, start him vs. ISU but have the other two QBs ready to go. If Cade is still iffy on Sept. 9, go with the other two guys. The defense should be able to beat ISU just as it has done so often with so many teams. Then hope Cade would be ready for some reps against W. Michigan before opening Big Ten play. If there ever was a time to be extra cautious with your starting QB, this would seem to be it. As conservative as KF is, it's difficult to imagine Cade playing at all this Saturday unless he has made a miraculous recovery the last couple of days.

I think he needs to start. He needs to be able to shake off the rust in actual game-play and get some meaningful reps before the level of competition greatly improves... Now.... If Iowa is way up on the scoreboard by the 3rd quarter then I could see them letting him have the rest of the game off to give a few reps to Deacon Hill (maybe) This is not typically what Iowa does though... I guess we will all find out soon enough.

25 points…Then Hill then some Labas Just having some fun with the situation.
But seriously, if we have improved then we should be able to( need to) get them all some quality reps.

IMHO, the decision-making progression is quite simple. 1. Is he medically cleared? 2. Does Cade feel like he is 100% ready to go? 3. Is Ferentz 100% confident that Cade can be very effective? If the answers to 1, 2, then 3 are all yes, it would seem the decision is clear.

If he can play, he needs to at least get a quarter in to shake off the rust and get up to game speed.

Come on. So, McNamara is cleared medically. He's had, from all reports, a great week of practice, feels good, and limited soreness after getting back to work. If I'm McNamara, there is no way I'm sitting if I'm feeling good...and haven't had a sniff of a setback. I don't think people realize how hard it would be for a guy to sit who hasn't played a game in 18 months or whatever it is. As long as he's looked sharp...and feels good...no way KF sits him.

Honestly, I hope the game is over if we get 25 points.

I think without knowing the extent of the injury it is hard to say either way. If playing won’t aggravate it and he feels good to go, let him imo.

And so it seems NOT playing Cade would have been a good move. He reinjured himself and, according to KF today, Cade is plenty sore Had Cade sat out the game, he would have had more time to heal and Iowa's backup QBs would have gotten important reps for a change. Labas played the whole bowl game. Sure, he's been dinged, but he's OK now. If you can't beat a Utah State with Labas and whoever that other guy is, you better start recruiting better players.

BTW: Using a pathological liar and alleged criminal who's facing at least 91 felony counts to support your point is questionable strategy in itself.
