To make it worse, he's not a Trae Young or Cole Anthony that can just go one-on-five and get 40.

He's a leader, playmaker, facilitator, winner. He'll elevate the guys they have like Ben Simmons did at LSU, but their games aren't built to carry a bad team.

He'd have been an unstoppable force surrounded by the talent we'll have.

Just ran through their schedule and wow they are terrible. Cade needs to wake up and get out of that LOI

Why though? The guy will get all the touches he needs and just needs to not get injured. He'll be a top5 pick and he'll get to do it from the place he apparently feels most comfortable.

I hate it, but how can you fight against these types?

Hard to do. If a kid doesn’t care about winning, he doesn’t care about winning. Seems contrary to the whole point of the game but to some kids, the goal isn’t being a winner, it’s being a star.

This is why if you are a top 10 prospect you don’t commit early and you especially don’t sign a LOI. His brother would still have a job if he was still hanging out playing the field. Go the financial aid route if you want to put your name on paper and “commit” but never back yourself into a corner by creating that obligation you can’t get out of. This is besides the fact you should ever lower yourself to a non-blueblood program if you are a OAD talent.

We have to remember though.. for guys like Cade, they are playing 1 year of college ball, and are looking at possibly 15+ in the NBA. I think there's a good chance a lot of recruits dont really care about winning a title. For a lot of these guys, college is a formality. Now once they start playing, sure they want to win more and more.. but Cade's goal is not win a title for Oklahoma State.

They’ll be like OU with Trae Young.
That's what I have thought all along. He said he wanted a chance to go to a school and build a class like people were going to follow him anywhere. Well, not OKST. Bottomline he went to a poor BB school because they employ his brother. They won't make the Tourney and he will have changed nothing at OKST and his brother will probably be fired with the rest of the staff the following year.

I mean Stewart and McDaniels went to UW and it still wasn't enough. One guy is just like the Trae Young shitshow we saw a few years back. Looked cool early on but then after 10 or so losses in a row and Young heaving up airballs being face guarded and exhausted it was a joke. We have seen these guys that say they are going to go to their preferred school and change the school for the future, but it never works. Not really.

Exactly man. Part of it is that kids now just don’t care about success in terms of winning games at the college level anymore. The types of players that go to nobody schools have made up their mind that they’re going pro after 1 year, so why not go somewhere that makes you look way better than the rest of the team with no threat of losing playing time? The fear of actually having to compete for minutes at a school like UK is enough to scare kids into going elsewhere.

And honestly? I’m fine with it. Go enjoy you 17 win season and loss in the first round of the tourney, assuming you even make it that far. You pose no threat to our success. The player with that sort of mentality would not survive here. I want someone who isn’t afraid to compete every day at the highest level college basketball has to offer. The guys that come here (and don’t leave prematurely) understand that this is how you grow as a player. $2 billion worth of contracts in 10 years speaks for itself.

Wasn't shabaz supposed to be a top 5 pick? How bout Zimmerman? The kid that went to Miss St that's so irrelevant that I can't remember his name?
It's not a guarantee.

Same deal as Anthony Edwards. I know he’ll still be a top 5 pick but hype is way down on him now, stock is also down. He looks like he packed his bags weeks ago. Playing for Crean has stalled his development same way it will for Cunningham

I'm always skeptical when a player doesn't come here and goes to a burning program. Makes me thankful for some reason. I always think they are getting paid and we don't need that.

It's not a guarantee.

Those seem to be more outliers. It's also not a guarantee for big schools either. Where's Duval? Where's Dakari? How about Chiek Diallo?

I just don't think there's enough supporting evidence to tell top10 players that they reallllyy should be looking at marquee schools. I think it helps. I do think Cade is better served at Kentucky or Duke. But I also think familiarity and comfort level are a huge factor when you're a top recruit who just needs a college layover before the NBA.

If you're a top ranked recruit and decide to go to a school like OU, hoping to be the star and get all the attention, you absolutely have to be an exceptional player in order to achieve your highest draft stock potential. If you don't produce right away, you'll be forgotten by the time the draft comes around. I think our history shows that you can have somewhat of an underwhelming season at UK and still be given more attention in the draft, worst case scenario. Best case, you're a star on a powerhouse team and still a higher pick. I just don't understand kids going to places like Washington, Indiana, etc. unless they're being paid.

A lot of players were suppose to be top picks. Sometimes it does not work out for the player or the school.

Dakari was never looked at as a can't miss prospect.
Skal was though.
That's true about Skal but he did still get drafted in the first round just for the fact that he played at Kentucky. If he had chosen to play at a place like Oklahoma State, he wouldn't have even been drafted. Sometimes the name on the front of the jersey can get you places. For example Simi Shittu chose Vandy, a better basketball school than OSU, and he did not get drafted.

Hey they were beating us at halftime down in Athens. He's done all he needed to do at Georgia.

They are graduating 3 starters, including 3 of their top 4 scorers and 2 of their top 3 rebounders. It’s hard to imagine them being much better than this year.

True. But their starters are subpar, their freshmen class will have a year under their belt and they bring in the #1 player in the class. To suggest they can make the tournament isn't that big a stretch. One player can make a difference. Take Udoka out of our rotation and we struggle. Take Hagans out of your rotation and Kentucky struggles. Adding Cunningham can mask some holes.
