He was never going anywhere but OSU, he just wanted to experience big time recruiting and the only way he could do that was to act like there was a chance. A huge amount of coaches, fans and gurus fell for it.

No shame in that since it’s impossible to tell what’s going on in someone’s mind. BUT when you hire a recruits family member you should know he’s going there, players follow AAU coaches to schools much less a brother.

I knew better than to let myself believe he was coming here.
That's it, I'm done believing any kid is coming here until he actually does.
How in the hell do you pick Oklahoma freaking state over Kentucky and North Carolina***? Oklahoma State is a terrible basketball program and on top of that, they're about to get slapped by the NCAA, oh and their coach is who???
Yeah, I don't get these kids. I hope Clark gets picked ahead of Cade in the draft.

I hate to say it, but Cal's propensity for going after the best recruits has never changed while at UK, and now it's becoming a running joke in the leagues, IMO. It's like watching Richards jump really high on every single pp fake. It's amusing. But we all hope it will change.
What running Joke. We just got Clark, SGA and Herro were massively underrated, PJ turned out very well. We lose Wiseman and Cade to friends and family.

I long for the day it becomes a recruiting violation to hire kids family members for the sole purpose of getting a recruit

The kid clearly had a good reason to pick OSU. Yes the timing is bad and it's a slap to the face of Cal and UK. But for grown man to wish injury to kid for being a kid and making a choice that is his to make. That is beyond pathetic and a terrible reflection for all of BBN.
I would like to let it be known I did not wish injury on the kid and never would for any kid. I played in HS and College and snapped my ankle in half. I would never wish that on a kid but I don’t wish him success. I’m sure he will be fine without my blessing.

Let’s get this W tonight!

I’ll say it again. Hope he tears both. Can’t stand people like him. If he knew it was OSU, be respectful of other people’s time and go ahead and commit. That’s time Cal could have spent recruiting a big or hell, even spend time with his family!! And the timing of the announcement? Yeah, that doesn’t scream attention ***** at all lol. This kid is already my most hated player for next year.
I have been involved with this message board for many many years and just like everyone here I have read some ridiculous comments, but this one is the over the line. Wishing a potential career ending injury on an opposing player is just about as bad as it can get. You are the one that is seeking attention here, and you are definitely not a representation of the Kentucky Fans that I know.

Seeking attention for stating my opinion? Lol Okay... and I care what you think why?

some of you people that really act like he’s really going to tear his ACL because of what I said is comical. Keep it coming!

Wishing injury on anyone just makes you a horrible person. Even when Zion went down I still didn’t cheer. Hated it for him, for Duke? Not so much. I certainly don’t wish Cade success but I’m not going to hope he ends up in a hospital in writhing pain. That’s just sadistic.

Maybe we're just different. I was raised with honesty and integrity, and taught to be upfront with people. The kid obviously enjoyed the process, but let's not pretend he wasn't milking it....and milking the process is being misleading. I don't think it's right. That kid knew long ago where he was going.

Can we please start playing the game? No one cares when a relative is hired. Lets do the same and then they will ban it.

I didn’t post on this recruitment for a number of reasons, though I did say - when uk was abuzz - not to believe the experts or fall for the smoke screens.
And here is what I meant:
Like most who followed this - I never thought Cade would end up anywhere other than OSU. And as those smoke screens went out, I became more resolute in this belief. It seemed like there was too much of an effort made to convince folks that this was a real and open recruitment. It very, very, very much had the feeling of “the recruit doth protest too much, methink”.

Cade tried to steal are thunder and just looked like a dipshit. #1 team in the country baby. He could have been part of an even better team next year, but luckily for us since he won't be in Lexington he will be in the next best place Stillwater. Good luck with that and the NIT. UK needs men, not little boys who are scared of the big stage.

Your wrath was just very misguided.
Sympathy for Cal?
Hell no, he's been in the game way to long. He didn't let this kid play him, he knew the deal from the get go.
Just decided to take a shot anyway.

Didn’t read board earlier because I was taping the game. Pretty surprising to see the CC commitment scrolling across the bottom.

My thot is the main reason tonite was because he knew mOst if not all college bb fans would be watching. Guess what he didn’t realize that most of them never heard of him before and won’t be hearing much about him next year.

The beat goes on.

Cade's hardly a sure thing for greatness.

Yes, he projects high, but he needs to continue to hone his skills. Taking his talents to OSU is risky being that he'll be playing for a coach who has yet to prove even a base level of marginal competence. For one, it shows he doesn't give a crap about winning. He's the kind of guy who would sign a max deal with New Orleans and be content with winning 30 games a year in the NBA, so long as he gets paid.

That statement is why I have a hard time believing this kid wasn’t just looking for attention. I honestly had little hope of landing him once OSU hired his brother. But, why bother publicly saying his brother’s situation wouldn’t affect his recruitment & that every school had a shot if the deciding factor all along was “blood will always be thicker than water”? So, he denies that sentiment only to turn around & commit to his brother a month later using that quote as a specific reason........

Pretty much where I am on this. I don’t think his choice of OSU was a particularly sound one for him career-wise, but kids don’t always choose on that criterion it seems. But my thought when he made that statement in his announcement was....”So he’s just now discovering blood is thicker than water?”

I’m like you, why say that stuff about his brother not being the deciding factor, when it obviously was per his announcement?

Yeah imo, it looks like UK and Cal might have been played just a bit, but we will be fine.

Wow, didn't see this thread yesterday and glad I didn't. Wishing someone injury because they didn't choose a school and wanted to be recruited/check out their options? Focus on who is coming, not who isn't. Now if you want to make fun of Boynton/Cunningham's brother for acting like they've done something of relevance, that's more then correct to this point, I mean you really are seeing a man troll others when he's related to the recruit? Good lord.

BBN fans I've had pleasure of interacting with are above wishing ill on others. Stay above that level. UK has a great class and will add to it, focus on who wants to be part of UK program, not those who choose different path.

Aww. I’m sorry you’re offended. Thank god I won’t lose a wink of sleep lol. Go on somewhere with your holier than thou ***.

By not wishing injury on a teenage kid is "holier than thou", so be it. I like to think of it as being a grown *** , sane man. Looks like we have another difference of opinion. But hey, I am glad to be on the right side of this. I can hold my head up and wish the young man well, knowing UK will be just fine w/o him, you on the other hand have to come on a message board and PRETEND to be all hard, wish ill things on a young man because your immature, uneducated, fake *** did not get what you wanted. Trust me Bubba, i have seen your type a lot in my life, they are pretty easy to spot, and even easier to smack around like a little *****. You are a poptart sweetheart, tough on the outside, soft in the middle. You are the type of "guy" is who is angry at the world, negative all the time, lonely with no friends or lady, and wonder why. So all you got to get by on is this fake, wannabe tough guy persona. But problem with that is, people who have been around enough, can spot you a mile away.

Sprinkles, fake BOY.
