Does Byron have an artificial turf field now? I remember they did some kind of upgrades, but AI says it was just the sidelines.
No, but they should as they certainly could afford it. They play better on turf. They keep the field cut short and as fast as possible. Mud and rain takes away from their pitches and sweeps, which is a lot of their offense. I think it’s an old school mental tuff guy thing to play on dirtDoes Byron have an artificial turf field now? I remember watching Wilmo up there in 2019 slip and slide on a very muddy November field. Byron was much better than Wilmo that year. No, but they should as they certainly could afford it. Hogs like the slop!A ground and pound beast like Byron is gonna tear up a natural field in November especially if it’s been wet.
I thought maybe last year or the year prior they did some renovations, but apparently the actual playing surface is still grass.
I watched some of the JCA/ICC game and I think Byron will be ok in a possible encounter with ICC...My most anticipated game is ICCP vs Byron.
Yuge game indeed, but my most anticipated is the winner v SJO Thanksgiving weekendMy most anticipated game is ICCP vs Byron.
Isn’t that a new track? Are they still driving that trailer onto it?Hogs like the slop!
It wouldn't look right with the hog trailer and then running out on turf.
It depends on the weather. If we get a "rainy" November, it gets sloppy pretty quick. The playing surface was outstanding. They have no need for a turf surface with grass that nice.

Why would the tax payers and faithful want to build up looking into the sun???The rumor was the Byron faithful did not like having to look into the sun so they spent most of the money building home bleachers on the opposite side of the field, new concourses, redid the track, turf sidelines, but still a grass field.
Don't know Byron's situation, but when Morris redid their setup about 6 years ago it wasn't just for convienence,it was necessity. The stands were not ADA compliant and the track was so bad they had not had any home meets in years. If I remember right it was done with both bonds and grant money. Prior to the remodel they had the worst facilities in the conference. Why would the tax payers and faithful want to build up looking into the sun???
Also tough sell on paying for a turf field when you play good on grass…
If you look at Byron’s setup it isn’t all about Football.
There is no restrooms besides 3 porta potties and a pull in trailer with 2 woman/1 man bathrooms on the Byron’s new side.Don't know Byron's situation, but when Morris redid their setup about 6 years ago it wasn't just for convienence,it was necessity. That's crazy....I've never been to a game there. There is no restrooms besides 3 porta potties and a pull in trailer with 2 woman/1 man bathrooms on the Byron’s new side.
Concessions is out of 1 mobile food trailer.
Some big games have been played and there isn’t the seating.
Seating is there but not the amenities.
The faithful don’t even have flushing toilets the visitors have![]()
I’ve never been to their stadium either, but For as much money as Constellation pumps into that community you’d think their facilities would be on par with some Texas high school and mid size college complex’s.There is no restrooms besides 3 porta potties and a pull in trailer with 2 woman/1 man bathrooms on the Byron’s new side.

True....look at Seneca and Reed Custer facilities...and Coal City too.I’ve never been to their stadium either, but For as much money as Constellation pumps into that community you’d think their facilities would be on par with some Texas high school and mid size college complex’s.
You’d think my taxes would be cheaper than neighboring school districts like Oregon or StillmanI’ve never been to their stadium either, but For as much money as Constellation pumps into that community you’d think their facilities would be on par with some Texas high school and mid size college complex’s.
Well,if you didn't have that 6,000 sq ft home on 150 acres....You’d think my taxes would be cheaper than neighboring school districts like Oregon or Stillman![]()
Back in the day, people used to go in the woods behind the visitor stands to smoke and enjoy a beverage or two. Every now and then, they would catch the woods on fire. You would have a football game and the fire department fighting a forest fire all at the same time. 39 Million operating budget versus 26M for Oregon,28M for the Valley might explain that when all have about the same amount of kids…You’d think my taxes would be cheaper than neighboring school districts like Oregon or Stillman![]()
It's a shorter walk now with it being the home side now.Back in the day, people used to go in the woods behind the visitor stands to smoke and enjoy a beverage or two. When was this? I'm in my 40's and don't ever remember the fire dept.
