My ****** take on who the hawks should root for this weekend based on CFP possibilities (I'm drinking the kool aid until next week)

1.) Penn State over OSU (not going to happen, but would leave 1 undefeated in the BIG)
2.) South Carolina over Ole Miss, this could happen a stumble here and Ole miss is vulnerable for missing the CFP
3.) Texas over Vandy. This would make the Tennessee game a defacto KO of the CFP for either team, and Texas is not winning out
4.) Oklahoma over Tennessee: probably not happening, but Oklahoma has a much more difficult schedule to win out

Not rooting for Pedo St under any circumstances. And how does OSU having a loss affect Iowa?

Well, they have that impending Michigan game up coming. So a 2 loss OSU team doesn't make the CC game. At this point an IU loss doesn't help Iowa because they aren't losing 2 games.

Hard to prove something that isn't going to happen
Well, the reading thing shouldn't be difficult, I said that OSU isn't going to lose to PSU, but I will be pulling for PSU due to this reason. Iowa does not have an easy schedule to fish 4-0 either, but that was kind of the reason for the thread and the title.

2,3 and 4 makes sense. 1 does not.

Please elaborate how 1 does not? If Michigan wins out due to the tie breaker Iowa has them. If it's based on PSU not beating OSU, then that's more than likely, I also don't see Michigan beating OSU, but to say it doesn't benefit Iowa would be wrong.

Iowa beats Indiana if they play again, I'll stand by that comment.

Well, 2 of the 4 happened. Texas will soon be knocked out after playing A&M and Georgia, Oklahoma has bama, Missouri, LSU to finish the season out, so they will be bounced soon. Iowa is sitting in a good position if they can pull the upset this weekend.

How cool would it be to go from 3-2 after the Indiana game and wondering of MG was out for the year to winning out and making the BTCG and most likely the CFP. That'd be the turnaround of all turnarounds. And yes, I'm well aware of the fact that the odds of us winning the next 4 games are something like 3%. But it's not 0% and we're posting in a dreaming thread, so...... :D

Even if we go 4 - 0, I think Ohio State beats Michigan. Think we'd be the 3 seed in BT

Exactly why they expanded the CFP. We are at November 3 and look at all the teams with chances yet. Drives ratings which drives $$$$$.

Regarding OSU v Michigan.....that's been the storyline every year for the last 4-5 years.....yet OSU still can't get it done. There's just something about that game that causes OSU to just tighten up. Last year even though they won the natty, they still couldn't beat Michigan at home and I'd say Michigan is better this year than last and the game is at home for them. We'll see.

I dunno. Michigan QB is going backwards. Barely beat Purdue in Ann Arbor. I think Ohio State steamrolls them in this one.

Those two Ohio State WRs, that isn't even fair. They would be day 1 starters in NFL.

I get it, but for whatever reason OSU just clinches up tighter than a virgin's honeypot for that game. They had 2 first day NFL starter WRs last year, too and probably better overall talent (except QB) last year. That's why games are played on your tv and not on paper. :D

FOX Sports national college football analyst Bruce Feldman isn’t afraid to make bold calls, and his latest November prediction has Ducks fans buzzing. When asked to share a few bold takes for the stretch run of the season, Feldman zeroed in on Oregon - and not in a flattering way.

“Oregon is #6 in the country, Dan Lanning is doing a great job there,” Feldman said. “But they have two really tough road games at Iowa and at Washington - you know how tough it is to play at Husky Stadium. I don’t think the Ducks are going to make the playoffs. That’s my bold prediction.”

Feldman went on to add that he believes Oregon will lose both of those upcoming road matchups, predicting setbacks against Iowa and Washington.

I think we'll be a sexy/trendy pick this Saturday which makes me nervous. We do better in big game situations when it's us against the world.

I doubt the players will be overconfident. They know they're up against a talented team.

I'm not worrying about the Hawks being overconfident, I was saying that because if we're the "trendy/sexy" pick, it makes the ears of the opponent perk up by being on upset alert. I like when we can just fly under the radar in these big games and have the opponent think, "It's just Iowa". If everyone and their brother is picking us, it certainly gets Oregon's players' attention.

I look at it as 1 game at a time rather than what are the odds of winning all four.

We played dead even with Indy and Indy handled Oregon pretty well. Oregon at kinnick is a plus for Iowa, Oregon has given up some rushing yards which is a plus for Iowa, I think we can get some pass yardage.

If Iowa's defense is on, tackling great, guessing the right hole on big occasions, getting some pass rush and very good coverage work, then Iowa can win this game, even by two scores

I think we are 40% for beating Oregon, USC is soft but on the coast it is a 30% chance, I think MSU and Nebby are having big issues and we have a 70% chance to win both of those games.
