Yep, people will say USF and UK are good but if you're a title contending team, you don't lose those games. It's over as far as that goes, most likely. Hope she proves me wrong. If she doesn't do it this year or next, it's probably over.

This team was supposed to be a national title contender, but I’m not even sure it’s Top 25 right now. They’re good, but a long ways from great

Eh, Kentucky is a Top 10-15 team with arguably the best player in the country. Other than SC that’s maybe the best team we will see in the regular season. Tough loss but playing a very good team.

We are not where we need to be defensively, but we’ll be fine. Both of our losses are to ranked teams in overtime and we still are very talented.

I don’t think this is a title team THIS YEAR, but they should still be very good and can play with pretty much anybody. If we don’t go to at least the Sweet 16 I’ll call this team a bust. But I think they probably will, if not further.

I do feel like they should be contenders next season though. So we shall see if Nikki can get them to that level.

Top Ten at this moment? Maybe. We have to wait and see unless you want to follow Texas. They have lots of sidewalk fans so you might just fit in.

We lost to Kentucky the year we beat UConn and went to the NC game.

So you disagree with the thread that we are no longer a top 10 program? If so, defend your response. Otherwise, you are just reacting like a child.

I could of told you that within 5 minutes of his leaving. If hiring a national championship caliber coach was easy everyone would do it. The best thing you can do is appreciate and support them while they are here and not hold out athletic department to impossibly high standards. The normal standard for success is not making the Final 4 every year. It is making the dance and being in the top 25 once in awhile.

It is just women's basketball after all. Does anyone really give a ****? Face it, we were all bandwagon fans because we had a top program. Now that we don't we can all stop pretending to care.

I was just hoping McCray could ride Vic's talent to a natty this year or next, if I'm perfectly honest. Larry Coker type of deal. Of course, I do not follow it much so I do not know how our talent truly stacks up to the other elite teams, I just heard we had a bunch.

We have a lot of talent, but there are teams with better or more talent. UConn, South Carolina, Oregon, Stanford, Louisville, Kentucky actually has slightly more talent than we do this year. TAMU is very talented. UCLA. I mean, don't get me wrong, we do have talent, but there are teams that have stacked elite talent in a way we haven't and probably never will.

The transfer portal also really hurt Vic, and we basically have no seniority. His 5 star PG has not lived up to the expectations of our 3 stars Jazz and Morgan. Sometimes that happens, and it's no ones fault. We also can't replace Teaira. There aren't a lot of 6'7" women out there.

People need to realize that you can't just go out there and hire a NC caliber coach because you want to. Most schools have to take a gamble on an assistant or the head coach of a mid major. Pulling an elite sitting head coach from a P5 school is almost impossible for most schools in any sport. Unless you are UConn or Bama football, you are not going to be contending for a NC every year. Fans need to have realistic expectations.

Vic's got similar talent at Texas to us and has had similar results thus far. I'll continue to give the new coach time. Comparing a clear Sweet 16 contender to the tired men's program makes little sense.

The problem with our situation right now is we have way more overall talent than we ever had with womens basketball and thats thanks to Vic. He got us to the natty two years in a row with less talent than we have right now. Yes USF and Kentucky are good but absolutely beatable and we should have beat both those teams but from what I've seen right now our girls are not playing as a team and that definetly comes from coaching. I want our coach to suceed but just not liking what I've seen so far. As far as posters coming on here and saying does anyone really give a **** about womens basketball to you I say-Don't come on here and comment then just because YOU don't like it. I really don't give a **** if you don't like it. I'm a State fan through and through and want ALL of our programs to succeed. Obviously we have a lot of fans that do like our womens basketball or else we wouldn't have had multiple sellouts at the Hump.

I disagree that we should have beat Kentucky. They are better than us on paper this year. They have slightly more talent and more experience.

Howland needs to understand how offense works and needs to understand that he can call a play on offense when we are tied at the end of OT1 with the ball and in a timeout. Simple I know.

Beats me. The big gold MSU M on the front of a black shirt looks fine, but I have no idea what "Fresh as hail" means (presumably 'hail' means 'hell' in common usage).

Mississippi state fans don’t like any form of basketball unless the team is a national title contender

You will see the bandwagon women’s fans fall of the face of the earth if this team falls short of an elite 8

Very unprofessional.

"Fresh as hail" --- on the back of a long-sleeve black t-shirt, the term "fresh" in a cursive font and the terms "as hail" in all caps in a straight bold font. All of the words in a shiny gold color.

This is the head coach of the women's basketball team, not the water boy.

I'm not getting the message she's trying to convey by wearing that shirt.

Now . . . that being said, she and I operate in completely different worlds (understatement), and I would not be at all surprised if she took one look at me and then thought to herself . . . WTF!

Guess I missed it... but the team has had these hoodies or shirts for years. Was she wearing it at a game?

And even then... our head football coach wears a plain black sweatshirt that says STATE. No one complains and everyone wants to buy one.

I don't really see the big deal. I've always thought it was ignorant for basketball coaches to be dressed so formal and drenched in sweat 10 minutes into the game. Was she wearing shorts too?

You don't actually think we were contender for a NC with a first year coach do you? WOW

I saw that and wondered about it . . . and I'm completely clueless.

Seriously, what message was she trying to convey with that?

It's like saying "awesome as heck." In other words, it means "very cool," or "we like this team/shirt and are proud of it." Hope that helps.
