We all know BB had a really bad season last year. Whether is was losing his father, injury or just a crappy attitude.....I think he's key for our success. Maybe it was a sophomore slump or learning yet another defnseive scheme( I never buy into this theory). What are your guys thoughts?

Gerri Green was another "great" pick up for us as well a few years ago. It seems he has been out of position, and invisible sometimes this past season. We are set to finally have some overall speed on defense, for the first time in a long time. My hopes anyway.

Maybe this topic will help deflect the current state of basketball and baseball..........sigh

I don't think Bryant is necessarily the key to anything now. Several other really good options at safety now. The key is having a couple of them step up/get up to speed quickly.

Yea, several good options at safety now. The key is gonna be pass rush, so take your pick on who's gonna step up.

Bingo Engie. With the juco editions, BB can either step it up or take a seat. We don't have to stick with subpar production and effort from him in 2017. As far as Green, I'm going to give him one more look with a DC who I'm confident knows wtf he's doing more than Sirmon. I'm trying not to believe that the knee injury he had his sr year of HS permanently impacted his upside.

Gerri Green will be a key contributor in Grantham's defense. Grantham's D's require length and athleticism at OLB to set the edge, and Green/Montez Sweat/Marquiss Spencer are the few players currently on our team that can man that position. Green's experience playing MLB in the past will make him arguably the best run defender of the bunch

Brandon Bryant will be a contributor at safety -- the quartet of Bryant, McLaurin, Cole, and Abram will be key to our team and it gives Grantham a ton of flexibility. We have a ton of safety depth, and I could see Grantham playing some of the safeties as a nickel/dime back because of our depth/size there

This season has the smell of 1997 to me, when that first group of JUCOs came rolling in for Jackie, coupled with some damn good players who were already here and came into their own. We are not quite on 1999 level yet, so 1997 will have to do for now.

I give everyone returning from that defense last year a pass - even good veteran players like Richie Brown and Jefferson looked like they regressed last season. BB was being asked to chase down players all over the field. The whole defense was terrible. I say wipe the slate clean and pretend we don't remember the 2016 defense.

BB may have been asked to chase down players all over the field, but he didn't. He routinely quit on plays that led to TDs. There's no room for that on an SEC team. He's dead weight. And I don't know why people are not predicting Green to have a good year, but saying it as fact. He hasn't done anything to make anybody reasonably think he'll have a good year other than him being a big recruit. Not all highly rated guys pan out, and he may be one of them.

I think Green will blow up this year and finally produce like we've been expecting him too. At least I hope he does anyway.
