"you have now crossed over into the land of football idiocy."

Not one thing I have I said is wrong. I challenge you to prove it rather than just making stupid comments

"What's amusing about all this is that you brought all this up trying to make yourself look like less of an idiot on the Michigan bet"

There you go being stupid as usual. This thread was started over a discussion we had in the chatroom about our defense you moron

"And you are categorically not a Spread team just because you line up in the Shotgun. The Shotgun is a formation. The Spread is an offensive system"

So Air Force, Texas Tech, and Florida all run the same offense? They all run the Spread...You are too stupid to even argue with. The ******* line coach said on the radio we ran the Spread on Saturday. Mr Meoff on here is one of the people that said he said it, I doubt he would just make that up out of the blue.

Oh, and what exactly is the shotgun formation? You used formation in singular form, so that means one. What is 17'ing hell exactly is that one shotgun formation? And while we are at it, what does every Spread team line up in play after play?

if my team lines up in the wishbone formation over half the time, but we never run the triple option out of it, are we a wishbone team?

1). <span style="font-weight: bold;">When you said that you were going to lose the Michigan bet because our team did what you said that they should do all along and that's to become a Spread team. </span>
Coach Croom said we didn't change anything. Todd was at the game and said all we did differently was run 4 or 5 more plays out of the shotgun. You weren't even at the game and you didn't even hear the postgame show, yet you insist we all of the sudden became a spread team.

2). <span style="font-weight: bold;">"Any team that lines up in the shotgun more than 50% of the time is running the spread."</span>
Wrong. Just wrong. That's all there is to it. Air Force, Texas Tech, and Florida do all run the Spread, which is about spreading the defense out and getting your playmakers in space. That is the common theme of the Spread, not whether or not the qb is under center or not. Most teams that run the Spread use the shotgun formation, but not all teams that primarily use the shotgun formation are spread teams.

And I'm telling you they are all wrong. We ran the very same offense we ran on that field 3 weeks earlier against UK. The only different play I saw was we lined up in the I formation on 4th and short and QB sneaked it rather than handing off to Dixon and getting stuffed. Other than that one play, we ran the same offense we have been running for a while. Whether we are under center or out of the shotgun, we are running the same routes - short outs, slants, hooks, and the occasional deep ball. Our offense works off the same fundamentals - running the ball some (didn't work that well), doing some play action, and throwing a lot of short passes. We ran our patented shovel pass to Stallworth and it worked aGAIN. Honestly, this is the same offense. The reason we were so effective was because Arkansas has a really, really bad defense. I don't care what Grimes said and I don't care what Mr. Meoff said, MSU is running the same offense.

but I'm kind of a sick person.

That said, if we can muster 54 yards a quarter, he's toast, or at least his bet is. He is going to lose unless we just absolutely get shut down, which may happen, knowing us.

....that C34 can stay if he loses. HD6 has said he will be banned. I guess we will see who truly runs this place.

and line up in 3 and 4 WR sets...and you do this more than half the time....you are running a Spread offense. You are "spreading the field" and making the defense play in space. That cannot be argued

...and line up with two backs in the backfield, a tight end and two wide receivers. You run draws out of this formation and on passes, at least one of the backs stays in to help protect. And lineman splits are normal I formation splits, packed tight. Are you running the Spread then?

"And lineman splits are normal I formation splits, packed tight"

Spread teams adjust splits all the time. TT had 6 inch splits against Texas

the spread is nothing more than a formation. Those running this offense referred to as geniuses are apparently nothing of the sort, given the fact that their offense is just spreading the field in a shotgun. This same poster tried to tell us that this offense is a cure-all for offense ineptitude, yet now we find out that all we had to do was get in the shotgun to run this offense. And yet, even though we've been in the shotgun for a while, we still have continued to suck offensively with the exception of playing probably the worst 1A defense we've played all year. Good thing we went to the cure-all shotgun formation, I mean spread offense.
