<p class="">"Hudspeth was the offensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach at Delta State University from 1999-2000. He helped lead the Statesmen to a Gulf South Conference Championship as well as an NCAA Division II National Championship in 2000. His offense broke 21 school records, 12 Gulf South Conference records, and six NCAA Division II records that year. The offense was led by Conerly Trophy winner Josh Bright."

"A four-year letterman on the Statesmen's offensive line, he helped DSU claim the 2000 NCAA Division II national championship. Stringer concluded his career with a string of 35 consecutive starting assignments at offensive left tackle. In addition to that '00 national title, he was also instrumental in helping Delta State win the 1998 and 2000 Gulf South Conference championships."

It certainly didn't hurt him.

I will say that having Carlson and McAdams hurt him last year, and I think that if Bear Bryant had those two, people would stop saying "He could take his and beat yourn and yourn and beat his".

Let's give Reed a shot at something he knows how to coach and see what happens, especially if he is a pretty good recruiter.

i know for a fact that he was far more interested in being a recruiting coordinator than a special teams coach

...I don't think it hurt his case, but I think the bigger reason he was retained was to help secure this recruiting class.

way beyond the kickers. In the UM game, all eleven players in all special teams disciplines looked completely lost. Especially kickoff return.

Where other programs play their starters on special teams. I have noticed other team's starting safety down the ball on the one or make an open field tackle covering kicks. I think we will start to see this at State next fall.

I've heard Hudspeth likes Stringer but thinks he's about as smart as a box of rocks.

I like Reed. Good guy. Glad he's sticking around.
