If Cal wants to show us that he really means business, then he must part ways with the duo of Justus and Barbee, also known as Bustus. There must be accountability for this dumpster fire of a season and it starts with these two.

Cute!

Serious question - how do you know what the assistants do or don't do and why certain ones need to be fired? Were they terrible last season when we won the SEC and played well? I agree that changing things up may bring some needed energy but the staff was changed up this season and that clearly didn't work.

All these experts on here that claim this assistant sucks or that assistant does nothing.....really have no idea what they are talking about.

I like Ralph but don't think is an all knowing God like some on here do. Also, he only points out misses, never talks about anything positive on any assistants. Are they all trash?

My brother-in-law is a college assistant coach. I'll take his word over an anonymous guy on a message board.

He has exclaimed how Lucas was a home run hire and how valuable Kenny Payne was, he calls it like he sees it based on info he gets from his source. Justus leaks info so he’s liked, he misses on recruits that were all but UK locks, he got trolled by Cade Cunningham and Mike Boyton.

Fair to say, but remember I never proclaim anything or demand any praise. Just share what I'm told/know and if I don't know, happy to defer to others and say I don't know. Do share more info in private too, so maybe that is why some take it far, I don't know? It's kind but I don't control that. Have praised Payne, Antigua, Lucas numerous times. Robic is a great fit as well, even with lesser role and wish him best seeing what he's dealt with in personal life.

Let me ask you this. What do you like about Joel Justus? What does he do at a high level? As in "do" not "set up" or "looking good for"....do. Player development? Relate to players? Win tough recruiting battles for level of talent that was a given prior to his elevation on staff? I just want to know what he does other than local media hits, leak info to people he shouldn't, and coach "bomb" to be seen during a game where he was seated in Cam Fletcher section off screen?

As for criticisms of the other assistants:

Slice was a horrible fit. Nobody disputes that.

Barbee and Flint are about comfort and "family" to Cal. I have less issue with Barbee than most here but he's replaceable. Flint leaving after a year would surprise seeing Cal wanted him in due to losing Peevy and Payne. I just don't view either as best you could get to fill spots at a program like Kentucky. My own take there, but think many including possibly you would agree.

Cal worked his *** off to get a job of this stature. He proved what he could do when given resources and a brand like this beside his name. Only way you screw that up is getting comfortable and assuming that past success will transfer to anyone who you put in position on your staff. People matter. Upgrades are needed and Jai Lucas was a start. Why not reach for best instead of trying to prove something that has slipped since '15 is fine and they just need to reinvent themselves?

I’m sure Cal follows you religiously. He’ll get right on this.

Surely I can't be the only one who remembers this, but wasn't this JF dude the leader of the Fire Cal brigade a couple seasons ago? Now when things are going much worse than back then, he suddenly starts riding Cal's jock like there's no tomorrow???

I think either he owes us all a good explanation or proof of a diagnosis from his shrink

If Barbee goes, I'm fine with Justus staying. We might be able to see which assistant was part of the problem. Plus, I don't think it's great to have TOO much assistant turnover. The recruits and players like these guys, so if they leave, it could mean that much of a difference for a recruit or player going elsewhere.

I'd rather Cal send a real message than just ho-hum through the motions this spring.

Bring back Antigua. Bring in someone like Kim English. The bottom line is that our arrogant staff (remember their smiley-face emojis when they landed Askew?) was responsible for putting this historically bad roster together. It would be like having a teacher who only had lesson plans for 20% of the school year. These clowns simply weren't prepared.

You don't go 9-16 at Kentucky without some heads rolling.

Right. Move Barbee, move Justice. Bring in Antigua, and another stud recruiter. Act like you're coaching at Kentucky, and use your f'ing resources to have the best coaching staff in college basketball. I'm done with this buddy buddy ********.
