Where ls the forced turnovers???oc for michigan should be fired for ever calling another pass against the fighting buschs... ridiculous how easy it is to run on them
The D has definitely progressed since Busch took over. Maybe they would have with Chins anyway but it sure wasn't looking that way early season.
No, a lot of people were questioning what exactly Chinander was trying to accomplish, didn't seem to even know how/where to line guys up. Busch has been praised for at least getting them lined up in ways that make sense, whether they can actually execute consistently is a different matter after wasting the offseason, playing two-hand touch in spring ball, etc.
I gave the defense a B for their effort yesterday. If the offense had played at their level the Huskers would have been in this game. Not piling on, but how can the Offense get anything other than a F.Is holding up well so far.

Michigan was messing around trying to get game reps for their battle in two weeks.
In the last 3 games, ILL/MN/MICH has scored 1 touchdown total and 6 FGs.
NU's first downs were 9/13/8. TOP was 21min/25min/24min.
By Qtr NU has scored in the last 3 games: 1st Qtr 13 pts, 2nd Qtr 9 points.
In the 3rd Qtr 0 points, and in the 4th Qtr 3 points. So after halftime in the last 3 games, NU has scored 1 FG.
Busch has the defense playing hard, despite 0 help from the 3 and out unit, and I've seen NU teams over the year just quit in games.
So far, this unit continues to battle, and luckily the 3 teams pulled the dogs off when it became apparent NU was totally anemic on offense.
And yet, there was a small chance NU could have won a game or two.
Yes, statistics are for losers. And these are losing statistics.
There is no doubt despite the numbers that NU’s D had been playing much better since Busch took over.
Barring a lot of turnovers, the next 2 games should be low scoring. At this point, what would it hurt for NU to try some "new" stuff?Is holding up well so far.

After seeing Purdy and Smothers try to throw the ball, why can't NU at least try something like an end-around with Alante Brown and have him throw the ball? Could be a receiver open.
In HS, Alante was a 3-year starter at QB for Simeon High in Chicago, a 7A school. He threw for 41 touchdowns and at worst, the kid has good wheels, and if the play is covered (likely) at least he has a shot to run.
Worst case scenario, the play doesn't work. But what's new?
Agree. Even with my suggestion of the end-around and throw with Alante, NU could try one conventional end-around with Alante running the ball. Then later, try the same thing and have him throw it.
If nothing else, open up the game with it, then NU has the chance to see how the defense is playing that end around, then spring it again at some point in the game.
As many wasted plays as this offense has shown in the last 3 games, what could one more wasted play hurt?
Even a shovel pass could work. It may not because of how quickly the pocket collapses, but you try the shovel pass and it fails, it's nothing more than an incomplete pass.
Open up the offense, or what there is of it, and try to get the defense on their heels. I'd be calling plays like I'm leading a wounded animal with nothing to lose.
Georgia Southern just handed off to their RB for another untouched 70 yard run……yes, they are playing much better, and getting zero help from the offense.

Agree. When NU is plagued by an OL that can't move people, there have to be new wrinkles to plays.
The same ole I-Back dive, an attempt at a likely failed pass and then another failed running play has not paid many dividends for over a month now.
Have you seen the material Busch is working with against one of the better offensive lines in the country?
At least the defense hasn't quit trying to slow people down.
We’re way too small at linebacker. I actually don’t think our D line has been bad since Busch took over. Our backers have not been good.
NU's defense is like that pitcher who keeps battling, yet gets no run support.
