Burns at Brevard

I know Bervard is a great team. I have watched them play this year online and everybody should give them the respect they deserve. With all that in mind, I’m still going out on a limb and say Burns will win. I have been privileged to see Burns (traditionally) relish the underdog position and win games againest
The best teams- especially mountain teams. We like to play the undefeated teams. We have been on the top before, and I think it’s more difficult to stay on top, than it is to take the top down. Good luck to all and stay safe.

From what I have read in the posts to this point, I think several have underestimated the athletes and speed on this Brevard Team. You do not go 11-0 (only undefeated team in 4A) and beat the teams they have by being unathletic and average speed. # 4 will obviously be a problem, but so will several others on this offense. Both of their backs are now healthy (#5 and #24) and #5 is even faster then #4 and #24 is a load to bring down. Burns is good and has players, but can they stop Brevard? The two games that Brevard played that were close could have been 14point wins by Brevard, but this is just a testament to the tuff conference they play in. 7 of the teams Brevard has played have had decent or good backs. Pope, the back from Pisgah is a stud and not slow by any means. He is the #1 back as far as yardage in the 4A class. The defense is above average and the coaching staff is the best I've seen in a while at making adjustments in game. This team has beat 1-6A, 6-5A AND 4-4A teams. they have also finished 5 of their games playing JV and back ups most of the second half's or their numbers would be much more inflated. This will be a good game and COULD GO EITHER WAY, but this also could get out of hand quickly if Burns can't score every possession or turns the ball over. Brevard is a disciplined team and other then the Pisgah game they do not turn the ball over much. Should be a good game.

I don’t think it will get out of hand. But a slight lean to brevard

I don't think it will get out of hand by any means. This is as solid a Brevard team as I have seen in years. They still have to show up focused. As you mentioned, this coaching staff seems to do a great job making adjustments as the game goes on.

Brevard is a good football team. I watched film on the Franklin and Pisgah games. All 3 of those teams are good. Brevard does what they do and they do it well. The spread the ball around and make plays. Defense has a bend but don’t break style but at times they allowed big runs. The main difference I see immediately that sets Burns apart from Pisgah and Franklin is speed. Burns has a lot of athleticism and speed vs what those two have. I believe this will be the fastest team Brevard has seen. Wynn for Brevard is fun to watch. He is very explosive. This is where I’m glad to play Shelby late in the year. Shelby has 3-4 Wynn type players on the field at all times so that part will not surprise us. That doesn’t mean he won’t get his and we will have to cover him every play. This could be one hell of a game. Burns absolutely can win this game. If we take care of the ball and limit penalties I believe we will. Nothing but respect for Brevard. As a fan of football, they are very impressive on film. We definitely have our hands full.

No disrespect to Shelby but no one has a Wynn-type player running around on offense or defense. This kid is ELITE. As someone without a dog in the fight and has seen a lot of football in the foothills and mountains over the last two years, Brevard is in as good of a place as a program as anyone in the state. I would put this football staff up with anyone in the state. Should be a great atmosphere in Transylvania County on Friday night.

I have not read one post where anyone was underestimating Brevard. They found ways to win close games and have not lost a game. That alone speaks for itself. I don’t think they have seen a team with overall speed compared to what Burns has and that I do believe. The thing is, that alone will not be what can get a Burns victory. A lot of things have to go right and a big part is staying out of our own way. Brevard has to beat us and not help them.

Look I think brevard is really good. I think m they are probably the favorites out of the west. But they haven’t done anything to totally wow me. They could do that Friday, though.

Yeah man, heard of them. Watched ER play Reidsville last year. Just wanted to show some love for the guys up the mountain. If you haven't, you need to watch #4 from Brevard tape. You can make your own decisions

I’ve watched 3 games and if you read what I’ve posted I said he was good. To say nobody is like him is just wild. He is a huge weapon no doubt about it.

Brevard is solid and I would give and Maiden a very slight edge out of the west but honestly it would not surprise me at all if any of the remaining 8 Western teams made. I may be proven wrong but I see solid games due to personnel and matchups from here out.

As for Wynn, Shelby doesn’t have 3-4 of his type of player this year but there are other players like him in the state. He’s definitely somewhere between those statements. He’s a D1 caliber player and he looks like what D1 caliber players look like when playing against non-D1 guys.

Brevard’s tightend, #80, is good now but he’ll be a major menace going forward especially with 20-25lbs added.

This is mostly true . However it’s a few exceptions. An example tj logan.

Yes and I think in that example the difference is when a potential NFL- caliber guy is on the field especially in a skill position. If that player is a lineman, the reaction is usually “Look at the size of that kid!!” Because they stick out like a sore thumb.

I don’t know if he’ll make it to the NFL but when Sullivan Absher stepped on the field for South Point against Pisgah a few years ago he had that effect. He didn’t fit the South Point “midget” stereotype to say the least. 🤣

I do think this is a very athletic group for Brevard one we haven't had for many years and #4 is elite no doubt about it but plenty of other teams got they're elite players as well. And as a Brevard fan/former player this one Friday night definitely makes me nervous but kinda cool as well seeing as the last time these 2 teams met was the 08 season and I played in that game. And I believe this will be a close game that could possibly come down to the final play. Im sure burns has speed to match our match speed. (Haven't seen any film on yall) but physicality i believe ill give the slight edge to Brevard they can and will put pads to you

Don’t worry, we won’t. 😂😂😂 I’ll put that damn ball 20 rows in the stands with a flag before #4 receives a kickoff. 🤷‍♂️ If we do actually kick to him, Coach has grapefruits.

I’ve said it multiple times. I expect a war. I don’t expect a blowout. The better team Friday will win and move on. I like our chances if we play smart and after watching Brevard, they have every reason to feel like they can win. 2 more days fellows.

Brevard stacked their deep returners a couple of times and would try to send him in the direction the kick went after they realized we were avoiding him. Not as effective but an attempt to get his hands on it.

NFHS just sent an email showing they are carrying the game tonight. I am looking forward to watching the game between two great teams.!!! OOPs. It's Hillside game. Need to have eyes checked!!

Im still trying to figure out why we did. 🤦‍♂️ He had already showed us he’s dangerous. We had that particular lead for about 3 min. I literally said as long as we don’t kick it to 4 we can make them drive the field and earn it that way. As soon as the ball went in the air I said “Oh sh**” and he was gone!

Thats about exactly what I expected a high blood pressure back an forth game all the way through that could've went either way
