Well- let’s talk about it? I believe Burns can give the Devils a run. Dogs have to illuminate bone head mistakes and secure the ball. Too many fumbles last night, but that might have been due to Davis not playing- which I was fine with so he can be full speed next week.

Teams like Franklin and Pisgah have shown you the blueprint: run the dam ball. Just have to physically impose your will against Brevard. Not sure if there’s anyone who can match up with Tristan Wynn. He's been that dude since he was little.

Should be a good one. Brevard will be tested. But if they are as good as I think they are. Then they will pull it out.

I highly doubt they have anyone to match up with #4. The key to him is don’t let him get going. You see him touch the ball and he starts winding up. If you don’t catch him in those first few steps it’s usually trouble.

Burns just needs long drives that consistently end in points. Brevard ran the ball a lot against us and their main runner was out after the first quarter. Brevard has an identity but they can be versatile and have the personnel to do several things well. They’re still a physical team especially on D it’s just not ALL they are.

I think Brevard pulls it out by 10-14

I would assume Wynn a receiver and gets most of the targets
What does Brevard do well? Are they a balanced attack?

Then it should be a great game IMO.
If Burns can run it like they have the couple times I’ve seen them, they’ll give Brevard all they want. If they’re defense can get a few stops and a turnover or two, they’ll give Brevard can pull the upset.

Well- that’s what we do! We were one kick away from beating a good Shelby team.

Wynn is special when his hands gets on the ball, but there's weapons all over the field. And yes very well balanced offensively

I know they can play with The Devils. They’ll have to play smart and do all they can not to help out Brevard-

Really liked Burns over the summer when I saw them a few times. I think they will present a good test for Brevard, possibly the toughest one in the west.

What kind of year is your TE having that used to be an O-lineman? Believe he’s a sophomore?

What you saw in the summer has changed a lot. We run a lot of different looks now. We have had a lot of younger players step in and play big roles.
I’m watching film tonight before I really weigh in but I expect one hell of an atmosphere. Rain in the forecast but from now til Friday who knows. lol

I saw them at the jamboree at Gardner Webb and the offense was stagnant. When I saw them later in the year, the tight end was moved to the o-line and that’s where he should have been to start with. He’s definitely not a tight end. The qb has gained confidence, playing well, and they run the ball really well. RB/LB Davis is one of the best all around players I’ve seen this year. Much different team from what I saw earlier in the year. It’ll be a great game.

Burns can absolutely go up to Brevard and win this game. But they must cut out the fumbles and 15 yard penalties that were all too common last night. On the bright side Burns didn't have any holding penalties last night.

I'll say for this game what I said about the game we played Shelby, if Brevard gets 3-4 stops, they probably win, but if Burns can get the ground game going and get this game into the 4th quarter in a one score game or ahead, Burns can pull the upset.

Excited for the trip to Brevard, haven't been up there since the last time Burns played there in 07.

Hopefully both of Burns running backs will be back against Brevard. Top 2 sat out last night and we started a sophomore RB. And he was impressive honestly, but the combination of Max Davis & Kolton Pryor have been hard to stop when they are healthy. Crest was really the only team to limit them. Burns really has an embarrassment of riches as they say at RB.

Burns can absolutely come up here and play spoiler. But don't sleep on Brevards run defense i know a lot is saying that's our weak point and they do usually give up one or 2 busted plays but once they make adjustments they're fairly solid defensively take pope from pisgah 41 carries for 170 averaged 4.1 a carry he had a long of 33 and i think 1 for like 26 yards take away those 2 runs he was only averaging 2.5 yards per carry and he's in the top 25 leading rushers of the state so i think it comes down to turnovers if Brevard makes mistakes with turnovers the two games with Franklin and Pisgah Brevard had opportunities to go up 2 scores and put it away and made mistakes that almost cost them so whoever can protect the ball and get some stops will take this one. Last night some banged up guys was healthy and everyone was firing on all cylinders and i hope the momentum carries over to this Friday

Looking at Pope’s numbers, he’s a leading rusher because he carries it on average of 27 times a game. For Burns, Davis averages 12 carries a game and Pryor only 5. Both of those averaging 10 yards a carry. Pope had 6 a carry. Brevard might shut that down if they’re both healthy because it sounds like they’re not but if they are they might be hard to stop. I’ve seen both of these guys hit holes fast and hard and leave the defense. They are both really fast.
On the other side of that, Brevard isn’t going to be easy to stop either. They’ll find holes if they’re throw it well.

Pope is 100% a pounding, physical runner with just enough speed to take the top off of a defense. Brevard had a LB truly stand him up on carry 41 that prevented us from scoring in 2OT. That doesn’t happen much. Against Brevard, time of possession was going to be our friend, however, I would argue we condensed our playbook too much and became too Pope-centric when Brevard was selling out for it. We never really wanted to score quick, we wanted to tire them out. Brevard had a very long drive (8+ minutes) themselves during our game, so they have that ability as well. I imagine Burns will want to control the ball as much as possible and not get into a shootout. Brevard can play with a lead or from behind all the same.

Brevard is a very solid team but they have entered into the part of the season where every remaining opponent will have the capability of beating them.

Im definitely expecting it to be a tight ballgame that comes down to the final play and looking like some rain might be in the forecast next friday which might turn it in to a run heavy game with limited passing and it'll be who can run the ball best and who can stop it. I hope for a Brevard and Pisgah win so they can meet again in rd 4

What Burns ran against Shelby 2 weeks was really impressive and we were dang lucky to get a win. Good Luck against Brevard

From what someone told me the reason he didn’t play was he got his ankle rolled on against Shelby. They said the turf was good but then had a sprained ankle. He said he wasn’t sure if he was playing this week. I wasn’t aware of him being out. That’s a huge blow if he can’t go.

He was dressed out to play. My guess was if he was needed he would play but fortunately it didn’t get close enough. That gave him another week to heal up. The ankle vs Shelby was the main setback.
Brevard is a good football team. I watched film on the Franklin and Pisgah games. All 3 of those teams are good. Brevard does what they do and they do it well. The spread the ball around and make plays. Defense has a bend but don’t break style but at times they allowed big runs. The main difference I see immediately that sets Burns apart from Pisgah and Franklin is speed. Burns has a lot of athleticism and speed vs what those two have. I believe this will be the fastest team Brevard has seen. Wynn for Brevard is fun to watch. He is very explosive. This is where I’m glad to play Shelby late in the year. Shelby has 3-4 Wynn type players on the field at all times so that part will not surprise us. That doesn’t mean he won’t get his and we will have to cover him every play. This could be one hell of a game. Burns absolutely can win this game. If we take care of the ball and limit penalties I believe we will. Nothing but respect for Brevard. As a fan of football, they are very impressive on film. We definitely have our hands full.

West Stokes coach was very impressed with Brevard team. That said it's about matchups and Burns should have lot more athletes in the secondary. West had some freshmen and sophomores trying to cover.

This game is very intriguing and probably won’t get much run but might be one of the better games in any class this week. Different styles but two very good teams. There is a chance Burns will have more athletes than last week and maybe more speed than Brevard has seen yet. Doesn’t mean Brevard won’t handle it. This has the make up of the Burns/Shelby game. Would love to go but staying close to home and headed to south point.

As long as Burns isn’t as fast as Monroe last year…that speed was different!

Big thing for Brevard is Braylon Thompson is available. He and Nyrell form a great thunder and lightning combo at RB.

I think so but not positive. There normally plenty of seats on both sides I haven't seen it more than 3/4 full in over ten years .
Thats everywhere bro. Our stands were 3/4 last Friday too. Different times than 20 years ago. In fairness a lot of our crowd lines the hill around the stadium too. Our road crowd is normally fired up so it should add to what I think will be a great atmosphere. I hope the rain holds off.

The weather app that I use, Accuweather, which I like most for the mountains among the larger companies, doesn’t really show rain for Friday. Granted you will be playing in the rainiest county in the state but mine currently shows overcast and Fall, not cold, temps.

This game will probably be close.Burns plays in one of the best conferences in the state. Will come down to who makes the most mistakes. Think Brevard wins in a close one.
I expect a battle between two good teams. Cannot wait to see them line up.
