Pope is 100% a pounding, physical runner with just enough speed to take the top off of a defense. Brevard had a LB truly stand him up on carry 41 that prevented us from scoring in 2OT. That doesn’t happen much. Against Brevard, time of possession was going to be our friend, however, I would argue we condensed our playbook too much and became too Pope-centric when Brevard was selling out for it. We never really wanted to score quick, we wanted to tire them out. Brevard had a very long drive (8+ minutes) themselves during our game, so they have that ability as well. I imagine Burns will want to control the ball as much as possible and not get into a shootout. Brevard can play with a lead or from behind all the same.
Brevard is a very solid team but they have entered into the part of the season where every remaining opponent will have the capability of beating them.
