Thanks for the explanation. What's the downside of publicly announcing? Verbals are non binding. I've learned not to get too emotionally invested with regular verbals these days, soft verbals almost seems like why bother.
Probably wants to have an announcement at school or something. Gives the kid his moment to be the center of attention.

A second silent verbal? Possibly a player That was close to committing to Stoney Brook, That they feel is under recruited and could play at te Big ten level, since this is their philosophy now

As I noted when Art first mentioned Bullock, he sounds like the type of undersized tough player that a West Virginia/ Cinci/Marquette always seemed to find. Someone who played bigger than they are , could score when needed, and played with a relentless toughness that made everyone else better. If he's coming to Rutgers all the better.

Bullock, Laurent and Tripp seem similar but I am sure some on here would have more insight on seeing them play

Physically, he looks like Rashad Kent.
That man could box out with the best of them. Hopefully Bullock is a better free throw shooter tho', because Kent was terrible in that respect. Kent still one of my favorite players ever at RU.

Loved watching Kent and having his toughness. Have not had that level of toughness on the court since he graduated.

On a separate note, has Kent been able to pull his life back together after the slide he had once football was over?

Press reports say Eddie offered him a scholarship more than a year ago. I guess he was unwilling to commit to the prior staff. Sounds like he would be a good foundational player, so I hope Pikiell can close the deal.

Why do I keep reading people think he's too small for the position?

Well, he's 6-4, 220... so he's got the height of a guard, but the look/build of a power forward. He's built like DJ Foreman (6-8, 240) or Greg Lewis (6-9, 240), but he's only as tall as Omari Grier (6-4, 180). From what I've read, he can shoot from outside, but also can also back down smaller guards in the post. Seems like he's got grit and heart, though, even if he doesn't fit a traditional physical mold (stocky for a guard, but short for a forward).

Edit: He's sort of built like a taller version of Khalid El-Amin, I guess (5-10, 202). Definitely a bit slighter than Rashod Kent (6-6, 265)

OK, everything I've always read about the guy was that he was a 2. I guess then that people are calling him undersized because he is built like a 4.

always like it when a coach sees a huge talent that is getting passed by because of some crude 'rule of thumb' method of looking at players
- and finds a way to tap into his tenacity to boost the team.

Kent was listed at 6-6, but was really closer to 6-4.

I don't think Barry is a high major player...The kid from LEAP is a good guess though.

Both of these recruits can help RU....plus the variable is coaching and player development and fitting a player into the right role....do we have a defensive-minded player that slows down other opponents or are we going to look at the rankings and say the player cant play??

I didn't even bother to mention that Pt Pleasant Guard Matt Farrell was playing more minutes than I expected last Sunday in Barclay center for Notre Dame vs SF Austin...was he an all-ACC type of player as a freshman?? No, but certainly decent enough to move the ball, take some shots, make some passes and attempt to defend....because he had no real offers last spring, folks said he wasn't good enough to help us or another
power 5 program.....same with Livingston from Linden who knights1212 was banging the drums for last winter.

Trust me these two recruits can help defensively....if we are looking for "Neon Boudreaux-aka Shaq O'Neal" from the movie Blue Chips, then you will be disappointed....but if we are going from 313th in total defense to something under 100 or under 80th (a metric we need to be successful in the B1G), we need defensive first players that don't need the ball to feel important....let some others score.

But he was clearly bigger than 220. Bullock would need to add 15-20% to his mass to be at that level - he's definitely slighter than Kent was. I think a "taller Khalid El-Amin" is probably fairly close from a body size perspective (can't speak to skillset).

Laurent's game is much different than that of Bullock. Bullock is about the same height as Kent who was really only about 6'4" or 6'41/2" tall. For me Bullock is like the Jim Brown of basketball. He is that strong & tough.I think we will benefit from having a guy like Matt.

Careful here. GreenRice is going to post how these kids are selfish and me first players for this type of behavior.

He may be a good player, but Jim Brown was a freak, he may have been the best player in history at two sports.

And dont forget that this player cant possibly be any good because he has midmajor offers and is not on the rivals database.

Bullock is a prototypical Pikiell player...gritty

Bullock only has mid major offers? Right now being a strong mid major caliber program would be a huge achievement/upgrade for RU basketball. For years I have watched mid major and below come into the RAC and give RU fits and often leave with a victory. perhaps it is time we built a good fundamental basketball team that was competitive, played good fundamental BB, and then we can gradually upgrade the talent.

Loved the 51 second clip of this young man. Looks like the kind of talent that great coaching can turn into a high quality player. Also, just looked like a man amongst boys.
