This is good to hear. Boff already knows Pikiell well from having Warmey from Roselle Catholic go to Stony Brook. We need some positives. Hopefully Tuesday we will get some positive commitment.

I want him on this team as he is a hard working, blue collar guy.

Absolutely ZERO disrespect meant to Bullock here, but if Jordan offered this kid with that list...the vast majority here would be crucifying him.

Is it because he's a Jersey player that has people's opinion pointed in a different direction about his potential?

Not looking to stir the pot...just fascinated with the thought process here

Not true. We all wanted him when EJ was still the head coach.

You are right in fact when he was rumored to be a potential recruit when EJ was still here there was a lot of negative chatter about the lack of other substantive offers. It's the new optimism about SP and perhaps the success he had with Warney I guess. I like the move if it's an investment on the relationship with Boff and RC and could lead to bigger things down the road.

A New Jersey player at a traditional powerhouse that people have watched that is lower rated is going to be welcomed more than a lower rated kid from NC, Fla or Ohio that no one has ever seen.

Jordan wouldn't know what to do with him.

Admittedly I've never actually seen the kid play but count me as skeptical. If he was from Texas would we be drooling over a 6-4 (power?) forward with this offer list as BK pointed out? No spin, the answer is "no". This is the problem trying to add players this late. You're going to reach and instead of trying to lure a juco or graduate transfer whose roster spot you can turn over quickly, you're committing to 4 years and hoping for the best. We'll see. We're all behind the coach and looking for positives but BK made a good observation.

Jordan actually offered him a year ago and than stopped contacting him. He met him again after I told him about a Ledger article in which Bullock claimed he still wanted to hear from RU. Eddie than watched Bullock in the semis of the Union County Tournament when Roselle Catholic played Linden. The kid I believe is physically tougher than any kid we currently have on our roster. Too often we seem to get out toughed. I believe we certainly can use a guy like Matt Bullock. I think he can play small forward or as a third guard. This to me should be a no brainer.

Actually Eddie was still the coach when I said RU should definitely go after Bullock. There were many RU posters that ripped my comments to shreads because of him not having offers from major teams.

I don't care where he comes from or who is teammates are. How HE can help us for the next four years is all that matters. I'm going to assume that Pikiell feels he can contribute. If he were to use a precious roster spot in the false hope that a goodwill gesture will somehow open up some pipeline to Roselle Catholic as it appears many here would do I'd be pissed.

BK- the difference is we now have a coach that believes In and has shown player development with less heralded recruits...EJ Never showed anything in terms of player development, I don't recall any player getting better in his three years here...jack had one good year under EJ then regressed his senior year

But I also did want him here EJ or Pikiell, I think he can play in the B1G

People should fess up.. the lack of offers would exactly be what some of you would be harping on if this was Eddie

That being said, he looks like a player. Would be glad to have him.

The problem I saw over and over again at Stony Brook with transfers was that if you don't play defense the way coach wants you to, you aren't going to be on the floor, period. Many times transfers and freshmen just couldn't learn Coach Pikiell's defenses to the point where they could play. For the most part, a one year player, unless he is very special, is going to be a complete waste of a roster spot.

I would bet that Coach Pikiell and staff have built a good relationship with Bullock while at Stony Brook and know exactly what kind of player he is.

The thought process is laughable. The only difference is that ej is not the coach, lets face it, most people here were looking for every little reason to slam ej

Need to be completely clear about the fact that I'd welcome Bullock with open arms...and this question in no way doubts his ability.

If Coach Pikiell thinks he can play, he knows way more about it than I ever will.

If it makes you feel better, I'm concerned about the offer list, as I'm sure are others who weren't included in the 8 or so posts on which you based your opinion.

Didn't Richardson and Roberson who played for Cuse last night, come from RC? RIchardson may have played at a couple of schools but I thought Roberson was an RC kid.

Thought process? Pikiell is starting late for '16 kids. Jordan was offering kids with light lists for his FOURTH class.

Though process? How about Jordan coming in and filling his roster with D'von Campbell, Moore and Okoro?

Thought process? How about Eddie's staff FAILING to sign a single Jersey h.s. kid in three years?

Thought process? How about his staff never signing a kid that was described as tough or as a bull? Or, you know, a winner?

Yeah, yeah, you're right. Some day we'll miss the good ol' days when Eddie's staff, in Year 3, could go to a prep school practice and offer a diamond in the rough like Justin Goode without ever seeing him play in a game. Or offer (or sign) kids like Kejuan Johnson, Diallo and Ryan Johnson with bad grades. Sigh, the golden days ...

And don't use the post-Rice excuse for Eddie's putrid recruiting, because Eddie left the program in just as deep a roster hole except for a talented space cadet at the point and a forward who may or may not be B1G ready next season after two bad leg injuries in 4 years.

Embrace change.

Good offer for this year but will leave in two years when he is recruited over.

Also there is a difference between a first year coach reaching to fill a roster and a guy going into his third year reaching to fill a roster when he had an entire year to recruit.

Eddie did become the coach like April 15th, sorry he was getting no one that year that late. Steve has been a college coach and starts much earlier. Didn't Okoro come from Iowa State which always seems to be in the sweet sixteen?

Just a new perspective. Most believed that EJ couldn't coach or develop players, so we needed supremely talented recruits like Corey. Pikiell has a different track record so when he says he wants a player that has upside potential, we believe our coach can get that player to grow and improve.

It seems like the big difference was that EJ was looking for conventional talent - to put a uniform on them & put them on the floor & use them in a conventional manner & hope for success.
On the other hand, based on just the preliminary background/overview, it seems that Pikiell has a history of identifying players with potential, (with conventional or unconventional talent )and individually developing them in a way to enable them to successfully contribute in his system.

OK, it's not just because he played in Jersey. It's because he's from a major program that's played top competition in what should be RU's core recruiting territory -- NJ, NY, PA, CT, MD. Not Ohio, Florida or North Carolina. AND comparing him to kids that verballed to Jordan in classes #2-4 with Pikiell's class #1.

Often it is. Right now though, Pikiel shows more than EJ ever did that he can build a team. This is exactly what this recruit is. It also opens thenj-rutgers pipeline.

We were getting slammed by EJ. Game after game, no improvement. Not the other way around.

BK - why do you hate this offer so much? What were pikiell options this late.
Folks, BK is saying that this is a kid without an impressive offer list. Why is it that when Pikiell offers, we like it; but had EJ made the same offer, we would have trashed the offer list?

As he has said repeatedly, he really likes the commit. He is questioning the double standard with regard to coaches. Has nothing to do with the player.

And, like BK, I really like this kid. Way tough, raw skills, big body. What I'm hoping is that he is stepping into a situation that will be coaching-rich.
