Why do you think MacNemee wasn’t drafted?

He was a major cog of our team and we were/are a much better with than without him.

Just seems strange.

It is strange. But it lets him negotiate with 30 teams instead of just one, so he could wind up OK in the end.

That’s the strange thing. You’d think at least 1 of those teams would have locked him up with a late round pick so they could sign him for $1,000 if they were interested at all. I don’t understand it.

I think it’s just nobody projecting him as a future big leaguer. He’s a solid college player. And his clutch hits will certainly make him a name remembered for decades to come here. But he’s not really outstanding and elite in any real measurable. He’s not slow but not all that fast. His arm is average. He doesn’t hit for a high average. Other than his clutch home runs, he’s never shown significant power. And he’s a college senior, which means he doesn’t have much potential for massive development. I hate it for him and hope he beats the odds. But that’s why he wasn’t drafted.

Honestly you gotta wonder if something weird happened here. I saw a few draft projections recently that had Mac going third on the team in rounds 8-10. Actually was viewed as a better hitter than Mangum even.

Doesn’t make sense. Maybe the Velcro on his name plate was bad and it fell down and slid under the table or something. Has to be a mistake.

I’m sure that’s it. They’ll draft you with mediocre or even no production if they think there’s a high ceiling. They must think this is the best he’ll ever get. Sucks.
