They seem to own us of late and in general. I want to beat this team. Matchups are a concern though. EJ is a handful... easily one of my favorite non-Rutgers B1G players. And the 6'8" white kid with all the tattoos... he's a matchup problem for RHJ because, well, he's taller. I just had a thread on that the other day about RHJ's struggles against taller defenders. Zeb can be a load down low, too. They can certainly match our physicality. Should be an interesting game.

Gotta box out Kyle Young, he’s annoying when he gets going and thinks he can dominate inside for rebounds….a huge key…imo
What do we hold? 9 grand packed, that ain’t that small!!!!

8000 RAC seating plus maybe another 100 scattered around the arena. The RAC attendance compared to other power conference schools is small.Duke seats 9000 fans but other schools are over 10,000 .

Yea this matchup worries me with a bunch of strong aggressive interior scorers and rebounders. Lidell Key and Young are all loads to handle down low.

Cliff has been good about foul trouble and we need to hope that continues

Dean has been great lately, but this is a matchup where I could see him struggling defensively

If they go big at the 4, Harper needs to make them pay on defense

With the recent surge in Mulcahy's play, I took a look back at his prior matchups with Ohio State.

Across 3 meetings, he's averaged 26.7 min, 8.7 pts, 3.0 rb, 3.7 ast, 0.7 tov, 2.7 pf

01/09/21 - 7 pts, 4 rb, 3 ast, 0 tov
02/12/20 - 12 pts, 2 rb, 3 ast, 1 tov
12/23/20 - 7 pts, 3 rb, 5 ast, 1 tov

Across the 2019-2021 seasons, he averaged 22.5 min, 4.8 pts, 2.9 rb, 2.4 ast, 1.2 tov... so it looks like it's been a matchup that has been good for him in prior seasons. Hopefully he has another big game.

good link.. thx

This part got my attention..

Buckeyes cutting down on turnovers in recent play

The Buckeyes had six turnovers against Maryland, their third straight game with that total and fifth straight in single digits. In each of the first 14 games of the season, Ohio State had at least 10 turnovers.

“We have done a really, really good taking care of the ball,” Holtmann said. “More importantly, our offense is in a great flow right now. I think we just have to continue to improve at really valuing every possession and our players have to stay in attack mode and stay aggressive. When we do that we can be really elite on that side.”

Not all turnovers are treated equally in film sessions.

“Unforced turnovers are the ones we’ll pull up on film. That’s correctable. In certain situations, you’re going to turn the ball over by being aggressive. We want our guys to have the freedom to do that. What we want first and foremost is an aggressiveness to how we play.”

MSU was very aggressive with the ball. This may bode well for our D to see a similar style twice in a row.

It really was impressive how MSU attacked attacked attacked the rim and our D kept adjusting. I am not sure OSU can match that.

8K, which is small in comparison to other B1G arenas (except Northwestern).

I want to beat 'em, too.

They already beat us (barely) in wrestling, 19-14, on Sunday and women's hoops, 61-57, last night.

Hopefully, the third time will be the charm against the Buckeyes this week.

They have to stop Liddell he can score from the outside and inside and we really have to crash the boards!!!

Harper needs to match the scoring of Liddell in order to win the game.I don't expect Rutgers five starters to all score in double digits. This will be a grind out game decided in the 63-70 point range.Neitherteam can have a long scoring drought.

Rebounding will be a key metric in this game. If we can minimize their 2nd chance points, we have a shot.
