And you should be embarrassed. Giving up on a coach after 2 f’ng games. You are an example of what’s wrong in fan bases. If you are even really a fan.

Guess what. We have a damn good coach who just outcoached a good coach and team.

First two week? Did today prove WVU is good? First two weeks don’t count then. Or WVU played a poor team this week. My view is we won’t know much til week 5 or 6.

Lol. Thanks for the insight from a Pitt fan. Pitt had first and goal at the one and couldn’t score. And the genius your Pitt team has running the show elects to kick a fg down 7 on 4th and goal at the 1 with 4 min left in game. And still misses.

Well now its just ONE game- great job by all, but the first two still happened.

The fact that we made adjustments in personnel and game plan on the fly and put in a great performance when giving up was an option says a ton about Neal and the bar he sets for his players.

This is not a great team, but they put it in a great effort. That’s how you build a program. Dana never got that. Hard work ain’t cool.

Definitely was unfortunate for Pitt. Bad decision got paid off with a miss FG.

Chazz indeed yesterday was perhaps the best four quarters Mountaineers
have played in one game for about eight years or so. At least since the Orange Bowl.
The improvement Brown coached into the team between the Mizzo game and yesterday
is unbelievable. We're damned lucky to have him. Oh there might be some down times
left in this season. But IMHO there can be no acceptable evaluation made on the current
coaching staff for at least three years. Thanks for the post.

Yeah becaue WVU didnt win ten games twice, crush Clemson in historic fashion, and beat multiple other top 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 ranked teams in addition to the multiple nc state level teams that are u ranked over the last 8 years

WVU proved they're not as bad as some were saying and NC State is not as good as some were saying.

WVU players are being coached up. Does this mean they win again? Who knows. But I saw improvement and hope the improvement at each position continues.

How did both teams turn out 5 years later.

I'll tell you..
Clemson National Champs 2016, 2018
WVU 2016 / T-2nd in Big 12 (0-1 vs ranked teams),
2018 T-3rd in Big 12 (2-2 vs ranked teams)

One moved up the other stayed average.

Holgorsen did keep WVU head above water but could never get out of the cold pool due to shrinkage.

West Virginia may have blown out Clemson in that Orange Bowl but Clemson had already made it known they wanted to be a force in the ACC.
Clemson was willing to give Dabo whatever he wanted for a football program.
West Virginia did not.

Did Dana have a his own plane to use.
Did WV go out and sign a top tier DC for Dana.

Dana was forced to go through the bargain bin for assistants.

Don't put all the blame on Dana.

Clemson showed what having a concrete plan between football coach, AD and boosters gets you.

Clemson is good now because ESPN wanted a strong program in the acc with their new focus on promoting that conference and starting a network. Prior to their new contract the league was down for 20 years.

Look at all the prime time games over the past 7 years for Clemson. Look at the massive hype. Theyve steered numerous top recruits there.

If they had done that for WVU after the historical beatdown of Clemson then WVu would now be enjoying that sort of success.

The other differences- Clemson plays in the easiest conference to win, and they didnt switch conferences. The acc is set up for them to win and to get " ranked" opponents. That, and they have a very positive social media presence.

All WVU social media has been troll city anti WVU anti BIG 12 for the past 8 years with people bashing the coaches and players with lies, libel and hate endlessly. Holgorsen had to wait on extensions as a result of the ill will towrds him. Recruits saw that and many over the years commented that affected their choice of where to go.

You cannot win without top recruits and WVu " fans" were all too happy to help outsiders trying to destroy the program make sure WVU had a hard time getting thise.

Hey Richard you could have given Dana all the tea in china and he'd still only win 7-8 games a year. He was an average at best coach. If you want elite results you have to have good coaching. If money and facilities is all you need then why did Bama suck before Saban got there. Why has that piss a$$ Texas program that you worship only finished in the top 10 once in the last 9 years. Why does Boise state continue to knock off the big boys on a consistent basis. It was well known that Dana didn't want to do the normal meet and greets with the boosters.

This is the reality of the situation. Dana wanted Brent Venables. Clemson offered more. Dana ended up with Third and Gibson. After trying to catch a lucky break with Deforest.

Hell imagine Koenning coaching defense last season. Think WVU could hold off Oklahoma State? Think WVU could have stopped Oklahoma one damn time on fourth and 11 to get one more drive? Think Iowa State pushes us all over the field?

Bringing in Shane Lyons was a start.



I don't know for sure if WV has the worst facilities in the Big 12 but I do know they are a long way off from the Texas and Oklahoma schools and maybe even KU right now.
When Lyons said that he is trying to get people to understand that WV needs to take another step or two up to compete.

People get angry but you can't win with a BigEast mindset.
All the schools who have won have developed a mindset that was created out of the Southwest Conference or adopted this mindset
That is throwing money behind your football program.
