He makes less than $2M at KSU. If offered enough money, would he leave KSU for NU?
Yes...Bruce would love to come back to the Big Ten (in my opinion) and he is a good coach and can do more with less.

He would not be that sexy hire...but in year one NU would have a top 4 defense in the conference and would be in close games. In year two they would be on the right side of the bubble...and Bruce would love to stick it to Illinois.

I don't think we could get Beard, but maybe there is a shot at Weber. He is underappreciated at K-State and he will be losing most of his key players after this season. It might be a good time for him to jump somewhere else.

How old is he though? No doubt a good coach but do we want to bring someone in that might not be around for long?

Why would he leave KSU which has been a very good basketball program over many decades to take over a historic train wreck?

We could do a lot worse. But, I’m hoping we go after someone who brings in an exciting brand of offense.

Listened to a podcast and a basketball writer mentioned Rick Patino? But said his #1 target would be Nate Oats!

To get back in the Big Ten...his entire life has been about that conference except when he went to SIU. Dude is all Big Ten.

I think Beard is waiting for the Texas job to open up (which it might after this season). He is a UT alum. They'll pay him big $$$$.

I dont follow basketball coaching changes much so maybe I am wrong. But wjy dont top assistants get looked at for HC gigs in Power 5 conferences. Football OC and DCs get bit name jo s why dont basketball assistants? Or do I just not notice it? Could they go after a top assistant from a top school?

There are like 3 times as many basketball programs than football programs. There are just a lot more head coaching options out there so schools don't need to go after riskier hires like assistants. Easier to get a proven head coach that has done it on a smaller level.

Semi-serious question. Do you think Coach K could win a B1G championship within the next 5 years if he replaced Miles next year?
Easily. He'd bring in a top 3 recruiting class plus all the best transfers and we'd be in contention in year 1. He is the greatest coach of all time, that has some pull with recruits. Now it's a moot point because he will never leave Duke and sure as **** wouldn't leave Duke for UCLA, Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, Much less Nebraska.

Theres no perfect coach. McDermott is an Offensive guru but his teams play defense like it's the NBA all star game. I just want a coach that's better than Tim Miles, which isn't asking much
I’m just saying that I’ve seen some of the same people that ***** about Miles offense call to hire Oats when he runs the same offense.

I believe Oats runs the same isolation offense that Miles does.

Do they dribble from one side of the floor to the other, hand the ball off, then dribble back to the other side of the floor, hand off, repeat 3 more times, then someone realizes we need to shoot the ball and throws up a poor shot. If so, then I’ll pass on Nate

People likely haven't seen his team play. I'm all for going all in on offense and finding a coach that actually recruit a shooter. Instead of another lanky wing that can't make a shot outside the paint.

Oats must be vastly superior at recruiting and player development then, because Buffalo averages 86 points per game (6th in the nation).

Whereas Miles' teams have never been good offensively. I remember watching his CSU team in the NCAA tourney against Murray State, I think they scored 40 points the whole game. It was brutal.

I would not be that confident. I think most recruits would say “Nebraska??!” regardless of it being Coack K. Challenge, yes. Win, not so sure.

If he’s the best candidate, then great. I’m just not sure I want to go the same mid major route again. I honestly don’t care if someone like Weber or Kelvin Sampson are 62/63 if they could come in here and turn things around in a couple years and giving us 7-10 pretty good years and making this an actual desireable job.
