I like Pearl's system. His guys play hard and extremely fast. They spread the court and get up in you defensively.
They have another FF squad this year.
That said, I like his system and his passion, but there's too much trouble in his past for UK to hire him.

They are both men who have wallowed in the mud on their bellies for their entire adult lives. Cal happens to be at a school with a fan base that will look at him like he’s the pope. To his credit while that light shines on him he’s taking advantage of it.
Pearl would probably do very well at UK. He would almost certainly win a title and go to multiple Final Fours.

You think Pearl's issues are confined to a cookout? Pearl has proved repeatedly that he is a pathologically lying, ethically challenged cheater and a snitch, and has been for his entire career. In addition to all the transgressions listed in this article, he also reportedly attempted to cover up the results of multiple failed drug tests by a couple of players at UT. It should be shocking that some people would welcome with open arms a lying, cheating sack of dung like Pearl, but it really doesn't shock me in the least. It's just who some people are.
One of them wire tapped and secrelty recorded upwards of 10 phone calls in 48 hours with a recruit, his family and his friends in an attempt to get that recruit to admit that a rival school was offering impermissible benefits. He did this despite doing the same thing himself, including offering a scholarship to the friend to be a mole for him. He also considered trying to blackmail his teammates into the truth by telling them their college eligibility might be at risk (i.e. blackmailing them). There are allegations that the audio was doctored, but at a minimum, the whole audio was not released to the NCAA. This incident cost the recruit a year of eligibility and mired him in scandal. He then coached elsewhere and hosted a recruit during a time in which he was not allowed to do so, and then encouraged everyone involved in that situation to lie about it, and lied about it himself before making a crocodile teared apology. The investigation led to more violations being uncovered and a 3 year show-cause being issued. Then, once again, his next program is caught doing shady and illegal things and his team is forced to self-impose a post season ban, which they (of course) did in a year they weren’t even going to make the post season.
The other one had a recruit who had a friend take a test for him, unbeknownst to the coach; and had another player accept money and gifts from an agent.
Yea… they’re definitely the same.
Being the coach of UK requires much more than just a coach. Love him or hate him, the guy has the personality to handle everything that comes with being the CEO of UK basketball. Based on the way he talks about UK, I think it's his dream job. Give him the UK platform, recruiting capabilities, and the guy would do great and drive all our rivals nuts just like Cal did.
Cal has certainly lowered the standard at UK. Just look at his last 7 years compared to his first 6 years. Don't keep living in the past....$10 million per year should get us more than that.
He is a great coach and would absolutely kill it at UK. And I would be all for it.
I don’t personally know Cal but I do know Pearl from his days coaching at Southern Indiana. Our company provided all of the athletic equipment for his team so I know him well. He left town owing a lot of people money because they trusted him which was a big mistake. He not only cheated but taught his assistant coach how to do the same thing. Rick Herdes took over as head coach after Pearl left and got fired and Southern Indiana got put on probation. Like I said earlier he’s a POS.
People like dissapointed cat you know they will just be like the eyeore the whole time while posting. People like them love to complain. He misses Billy Gillespie, sad thing is if we didn't get hosed by the refs during the unc game it would only be 5 years ago.
Look, I like cal as well as saban. Both our two biggest rivals in the major sports, but cal just doesn’t get it done. Wish he’d stay away from multiple one and done guys. He doesn’t know how to handle those guys on a yearly basis.
Pearls dream is to be the Kentucky coach. Always the first one to talk highly of us.
Uh say what you want about the comparisons between Cal and Pearl but Pearl illegally recorded a conversation with a recently decommitted guy and tried to get him to admit being paid, even though he wasn't. He ruined a kids eligibility for a season. He's a effin rat and a coward. You straight up weak if you want that POS anywhere near our program.

Many here think the same about Pearl now as they did about Cal before he got here. Same criticisms. Sleazy, cheater, etc. He wouldn't be my first choice but I wouldn't mind it.

Wouldn't hurt my feeling if we hired him, but who know where things are when Cal retires. Not even sure how old Pearl is and too lazy to look. He's a hell of a coach. Gotten elite results yet never been at a blue blood.

Bruce Pearl is a known cheater. He was fired by TN of all places for cheating. His former assistant Chuck Person took the rap for him at Auburn and got convicted on criminal fraud charges. It is easier to win when you get away with cheating everywhere you work. For those who say cheating is okay now, Pearl has been cheating as long as he has been a college coach, and now he is working for the cheatingest school in the south if not the entire country. Without a doubt, Pearl is cheating in ways that other coaches haven't even thought about yet. Pearl is the innovator of cheating, and Will Wade is taking notes.
Pearl is more likely to go to jail than to ever work in any capacity for UK.

I've never dealt with a person who used "being a winner" to excuse bad behavior who wasn't woefully deficient, not only morally but skill wise/professionally. It's a mantra they repeat to cover feelings of inadequacy and perpetuate the delusion of themselves they've created.
I know people that worked on that whole ordeal. They did not want to fire Pearl. They had to.
He cheated like hell at UT and if you don't think that he gave chuck person the green light to cheat at Auburn you're not very bright, Person was the fall guy.

Not to mention Chuck was involved with a slew of other assistants across several schools that were part of that ring and all got caught in the scandal. Did those guys also take the rap for Pearl? If you can honestly answer how that scandal benefited Pearl, I’ll listen. But the entire situation doesn’t make any sense for Pearl. What he did at Tennessee was entirely on himself and he skills have gotten fired, but people who think that Chuck just gladly fell on the sword for Bruce are delusional

I'd take BP in a New York min if Cal left..Bruce has the fire and passion you have to have here and he has an eye for talent. would be a great recruiter as well...I don't buy he's a big cheater......he would win a title here maybe multiple
