Where does he rate among coaches? I think he is right there amongst the best out there. I also believe he would do good at Kentucky when cal decides to step down...

With money out in the open with NIL maybe he stays out of trouble. Time will tell.
I think he's a good coach and great motivator. He's no more a scum bag than 90% of others coaching.
In 18 years of being a head coach he has made it past the Sweet 16 two times. In 14 years at UT and Auburn he has 2 conference titles.

Every time he builds something decent he gets caught cheating.
I think he’s a better motivator than coach. His teams seem to play undisciplined at times.
He reminds me of a cross between bozo the clown and Richard Simmons. He's just like Wade, or Sean Miller people knows they gives money to players. He's good for a sweet 16, elite 8 or conference championship every now and then that is about it

I like Pearl. I’ve met him and he was very gracious and cordial. He’s a great coach who skirts and has occasionally crosses the line. He’s just done what other coaches around the country have done, he just happened to get caught.
Pearl has done more with less, how can anyone debate that? Looks at his roosters and players over the years compared to ours. Plus, he was cheated out of that Virginia Final Four where they didn't call the double dribble on the Virginia player at the end where that was obvious even to the commentators. So, the person above seemingly forgot about his being in the Final Four. Remind me what team Pearl's team beat to get to the Final Four.....
Now, would I trade Cal for Pearl? No. Cal is the right fit for our program. But, as stated in another post, that doesn't mean you can't be critical of some of Cal's seemingly evident weaknesses during in game coaching. Pearl's weaknesses are not coaching but other factors.

Exactly. If someone thinks Pearl is such a great coach and would be great at UK they know nothing about his past, even when he was coaching at Milwaukee. He is what he is, a scumbag. I would never want him at UK.
They called Cal a cheating slimeball who will get us on probation when he got here. I’m sure people are still very very patiently waiting.

Those with a gripe against Cal on X’s & O’s would not be happy with Pearl either his teams run barely any semblance of an offense. He recruits decently but also not in the stratosphere of the Uber elite recruiters. Maybe that would change at Uk maybe not.
Personally, he wouldn’t really be on my wish list for the UK job when Cal ultimately leaves, but I guess I could be persuaded to be ok with him if some better other options fell thru. He is no question a scumbag. A charismatic scumbag tho, I give him that I suppose.

He would excel at Kentucky. He made Tennessee and Auburn competent.

He's more of an auburn type guy or a head coach of a team that's fans are more passionate about football than basketball. His antics oversweating being shirtless, looking like a car salesmen, being dirty, and getting caught multiple times I'll pass.

UK was cheated by the refs against AU in the Elite 8 that year...not one foul called the last 9 minutes of regulation. You forgot to mention that.

I would rate him as close to the top of our list . MOST HATED list that is .
