Bruce pearl and Auburn

Bruce Pearl is not a good leader of a program and I am not just saying that.

His teams just jack up threes and the days they are off , they lose.

His only team he has ever had that I respected was the UT one where all their startere were suspended and they made the elite 8 with the backups...Princes relative was on the team.
He hasnt assembled a cohesive team since then so I am chalking that up as luck.
Calipari is a similar coach to Pearl yet 100X better.

I would take Louisvilles coach over Pearl all day

Um, he taped a guy who had just committed to another school, trying to get him to admit that the other school cheated to get him I.e. by giving him money and a car. It was dirty as hell. He's a rat plain and simple. I don't want a rat coaching UK.
I do love his competitive nature and he is an excellent coach. He's a great and easy villain for UK fans. But hell to the no of him being our coach.

So he's dirty because, as an assistant coach in the 80s, he helped catch another team that was buying players? If he was as dirty as some folks want to suggest, why wouldn't he have just tried to outbid the team that was cheating?

Pearl teams never play defense.

I like him, I like watching his teams..but that's why they always end up falling short...theyll sputter in a second half in the tourney, miss shots, and be out

Following up on this, we are 13th this year in defensive efficiency per KenPom. We held Duke to their lowest point total of the year. As noted, defense has been a big point of emphasis by Pearl and it appears to be improved. We were 37th in defensive efficiency last year so I don't think its reasonable to say we never played D last year either.

I think he would do well, but with UK's facilities and history, you could say that about 8-10 coaches. He just doesn't have a chance because of the show cause he had when Auburn hired him. UK would never consider him.

First off, ill save the drama queens some energy and say that i love coach cal, love what hes done, and love what hes doing. I love our current team and think we will be dangerous come march.

My hypotherical scenerio for the open minded people here is how do you think Bruce Pearl would do here as head coach?

The reason i ask is because i respect the job bruce pearl has done at Auburn. His team this year is extremely balanced and very fun to watch. They are very sound defensively and play with tenacity, but its his offensive approach that has really impressed me. His guys can straight light it up. His guards are extremely skilled shooters and have very good court awareness on both ends of the court and are fearless. This Auburn team plays a certain style that i see will translate well in March.

Do you all think with the resources and the attraction that is kentucky basketball, that Bruce Pearl would be able to compete for top talent and get them to play at the level that his players play at auburn? And do you think his style is compatible with top tier recruits?

I wouldn't want him to coach here, but he could grill us all a bbq!

Have you watched us this year? Our defense was better last year, but its improved a ton this year. Pearl put a huge emphasis on it during preseason camp. Most of the reports we got were about the team focusing on being better defensively. They played great D against Washington in that blowout. We couldn't hit a shot against Duke and hung into the game by playing hard on D. Last night, we switched to a zone the last 7 mins against zona and went on an 11-0 run and closed the game out 18-6 to hold them to 57 points for the game.

But their wrong. Pearl keeps getting into trouble and moving on. Cal has never been proved dirty. Pearl will remain dirty and 1,000 baths wouldn’t get him clean.

Thanks for finding that. I had heard there was another minor issue after the BBQ but never saw the details. Since Bruce got a show cause for that, what should the NCAA give Sean Miller, Will Wade and Bill Self?

What they should get and what they will are not even close...

Like the defense you played against Duke? KIDDING. Y'all will get nothing but better as the year goes along.

Winning the SEC without Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy, losing McLemore to a dislocated ankle, Bryce Brown either missing games or miss long stretches of games because of a shoulder injury and already being an undersized team is one of the best coaching jobs I've ever seen.

Of course, let's wait and see how this year goes. We have a much fuller cupboard so we don't have any built-in excuses.
