Bruce Feldman article on coaching carousel

[MSUDC11]

It's behind a pay wall but I recommend The Athletic. Really good content for a good price. It lists 23 names to watch on the coaching carousel (guys who could be looking to move, not guys on the hot seat) and Moorhead is number two. We've all seen Rutgers mentioned, but Illinois and Boston College are also listed as possibilities here.

Based on yesterday's press conference, regardless of what our fans think about him, I think Moorhead himself genuinely wants to be here right now. But I am curious to see if that changes if things continue to go south in the next month and a half.

Gene Chizik went 3-9 and then 2-10 at Iowa State before Auburn hired him. Perhaps a losing record won't preclude Illinois, BC, et al from poaching Moorhead...

We can only hope.

I totally missed this. WHY in the 17 did Auburn hire him? Obviously his success there was totally because of Cam.

Chizik was extremely successful as Auburn's DC, and then as DC at Texas. The PTB at Auburn figured his record at Iowa State was Iowa State's fault. The fans were not amused by his hire.

I never thought of it before, but Mac Brown's last 3 DCs at Texas (Chizik, Muschamp, Diaz)all became head coaches at major programs, and the first 2 lost their jobs within 4 years.
