We need one more in the rotation at the 4 and 5.

We’ve got Bradshaw, Mitchell, and Onyenso, but need a fourth.

If we can’t land another big, then Thiero may have to play some as a small ball 4.

That might not be a bad thing, but I would rather have another legit Center.

i would like to have another option to go with Onyenso, for when we need a true big man.

What do you think Ugonna will bring to the table next year?

I’d put him at 7 and 5 in 22 mpg. Between Bradshaw Mitchell and Onyenso, we are covered at the 4 and 5. BUT we have no room for injury to those 3, which is why Cyril is an important get. Like bucsrule said, we would end up with Thiero or Edwards at the 4 otherwise.

Lol, guess my friends Memphis ties are getting weaker and weaker. He was once in there like a weed. He told me just earlier today he still hadn’t heard of Brown coming to Memphis! Just to be transparent - this guy is very, very close to an ex-assistant coach for Penny. Still very close to him, but he is no longer an assistant, but still has lots to do with Memphis basketball in general.

I think he will be good enough to play 15/20 mins a game.
I don't think the reason he didn't play last season was because he couldn't. They stated going in that he wasn't going to play. Our fans miss the obvious things. Right over their heads. He looked pretty good in the couple of early games he played in.
With Mitchell and Bradshaw I think we are plenty deep enough. You aren't gonna get a high level guy to come play 10 mins just so you can be deep at every position

Against cupcake U. He looked well below average against any team with a pulse. He is sure to improve but he has a ways to go to he serviceable at this level.

Cyril is another ugo. He will come late if at all and ride the pine.
If you expect the sky to just open up and **** you a Moses Malone or AD at this point in the game to fill out the roster then you have another thing coming. There isn't much else to choose from. Rather have someone than no one for extra depth back there and the likelihood of him being at UK beyond 1 season is intriguing of itself. Same ones will cry come November after dropping a game that Cal should have done everything in his power to have gotten Cyril.

Onyenso as our only true 5 man is a bit of a gamble.

He might be serviceable or even good, but it is a risk.

We really need one more big, IMHO. Just in case Onyenso isn’t ready.

But if the roster is set, so be it.

Hopefully that means Mitchell and Bradshaw are able to play together and Thiero can get some minutes as a small ball 4.

We need at least 4 guys at the 4 and 5.

People thinking UGO will suddenly be a stud next season aren't living in reality IMO.

We said the same about Nick Richards, Josh Harrelson, Derek Willis (as a 4 man), etc. etc....we don't know anything in June.

BUT, we do need another 5 man IMO, can't go into the season with three big men (Bradshaw, Mitchell, Ugo).

Cyril or N'Faly would be home runs.

When? I don't remember the kid getting on the floor past Dec. Nobody looks good in 3 mins of college. AD wasn't great at the beginning of the season either.

What’s the height on Adou? Last year 6 6. Hoping he’s taller. Don’t remember him being a rebounder but he is aggressive. Looking forward to seeing he and Ugo as sophs.

It isn't true that he looked below average vs teams with a pulse. He hardly played but here...

December against Michigan and an AA center:

7 mins
4 pts
2 rebs
2 blocks
+5 +/-

He wasn't great against Alabama but Oscar and the whole team weren't either. -3 +/-...only Adou had a better rating in that game at -1. Everyone else was awful. If you recall when we made a run in first half of that game it was Ugo and Thiero who were in.

He doesn't need to do anything more than protect the rim, rebound, screen and dunk the ball. That is literally the ask IMHO.

If he had to be Oscar I'd be gravely concerned but there is no world in which the offense will run through him.

He looked to be about the same height as Edwards at camp I was at last week. I'd say 6'7ish. He definitely put on some weight imo.

Will be interesting to see what kind of leap he can make with more PT as I expect he will get minutes at both 3/4 positions.

His non scoring stats were similar to Hopkins when he was a FR. He probably isn't the soccer Hopkins is but will bring a lot of energy defensively and pickup scrap points.

Hopkins:
181 mins
24/56 FG
5/26 3FG
39 reb
7 ast
4 stl
3 blk
15 TO
60 pts

Thiero:
190 mins
10/29 FG
3/9 3FG
37 reb
8 ast
9 stl
6 blk
13 TO
46 pts

Even if Ugo is better than he was last year when he got absolutely backed down by Dickinson, he will get in foul trouble early and often. We will be hurting without another big.
