Those three guys are going to be brutal. Incredible on defense and offense.

Plus, I think Hawkins and Mulder are going to contribute as well. I absolutely loved the confidence I saw out of those two tonight.

Please Lord, no injuries to some critical frontcourt guys. Keep Bam, and Humphries, and others healthy, and we are going to be a Top 4 team, no doubt.

I can't even to begin to imagine how much better Fox and Monk could be by the end of the year.

Early on I'd say Willis. But a lot will depend on the other team. If we get into a half court game we could see Hump and Bam starting. Just hope we stay healthy so we can throw everything we got every game and run teams off the floor.

Willis will start because of his shooting & I can see Mulder playing the 3 some.

I think Sacha Killeya-Jones will start at the 4. Very impressive, plays hard, dude bulked up a ton and is very skilled to go along with being very physically impressive.
Mulder is benefiting a TON by practicing against Monk every day. Dude looks 100% different.

We'll have a ton of different lineups. Intriguing, elite depth all over the floor, and easily the most athletic team in the country. Doubt it's even close there. Probably the most physically imposing as well due to size (weight, as well as length, to go along with all that athleticism).

When one of the three of Briscoe, Fox and Monk go to the bench, there will not be much of a drop off when Hawkins takes their place. Even Mulder will provide comparable talent when there is foul trouble or just an off night for either of BFM. I am truly pumped to watch this team! Not trying to over hype, but our backcourt is going to be one of the best in the nation!

Still think Willis will be the 6th man. Did you all see him get abused on defense a few times.....SKJ is a work in progress guys, he has great tools but no way he starts. Also, tonight was the first time Mulder has made a three in a game............

But it will be fun to see Fox and Briscoe also pass more, they got a little too much in matching each other. I think that hurt Monk and even Willis. Willis just needs to sit on three point line at times to wait for the kick back.

Also, it is great to see that Bam is not a blackhole, he passes out of the post at times. Doesn't seem to force it all the time and this was a scrimage

Can't wait to see these guys going against other teams, and I bet they will be glad too. They definitely don't cut each other any slack. I'm more stoked about this team after seeing how hard nosed they are. The talent is second to none.

I say Wenyen. Dude is big and solid defensively/rebounding. Shot looks like it has potential too..Love Willis but think he'd be a solid 6th man like Miller was.

I think Willis will end up as a 6th or 7th man for one single reason - defense. Cal loves defense and Gabriel and SKJ are going to offer better defense. He still has a big role on this team especially since we will see a ton of zone defense.

I think the 5th starter will be Humphries or Willis. I was blown away with the overall team speed, length, and athleticism. It may be one of the most athletic Kentucky teams I can remember.

I would have liked to have seen Cal play Briscoe, Fox, and Monk together the last 10 minutes or so. I can't wait to see that.

While no way do I see Cal platooning, I do see him occasionally making 3,4 or even 5 substitutions for fresh legs and to throw off the opponent's D.

Right now it's hard not to get excited about these guys. The new guys are exceeding my expectations already and guys like Hawk/Mulder/Briscoe/Willis and Hump are all playing well. We have a whole lot of depth on this team if everyone plays with the intensity they are showing.

I think early foul trouble could be a problem for some and we will be very glad we have these guys coming off the bench when needed. There's strength in numbers. Can't wait to watch these guys gel.

that this group could be faster or even better in the open floor than wall/bledsoe (imo) is mind blowing. all three are great finishers, can run. it's going to be fun. fox looks like a steal machine. could be better outside shooting than expected as well.

Willis will be the 5th starter. UK looks about 9 deep when Humphries comes back

I really like Fox and Briscoe both playing pg at the same time. Monk at the big guard or small forward spot will cause a matchup nightmare for teams.

Willis starts because he is a natural rebounder. You must start guys that go for rebounds like him.
Until SKJ, Gabriel, or I-saac show me they can rebound like Derek ...I rest my case on this.
Derek is our 4 or 3. He can do 40% from 3 and rebound 8-12 a game every game. 1 block a game too. Derek's rebounding is his most impressive skill.

Not to dis Mulder and Hawkins but it will be a drop off,the other three are just that good, there might be a drop off no matter what other two guards in the country you brought in.

4 starters are locked in stone, only question is for the 5th, and it may be a situational answer, Hump if the other team is huge, Willis if the other team is small and wants to zone, Wenyen if the other team has a quick and tall 3/4. I would take bets that all three of those vying for last spot will start at some point this season based on situational need.

Try to guard Monk, Fox, Briscoe, and Willis on the perimeter.

All can shoot it well enough that there will be huge gaps open up as well as allowing Bam to go one on one.

Of course we know the opposing team will just pack it in and hope we miss our outside shot.

Umm... NO, it is not. Derek's "most impressive skill" is that he's our only big man who's can consistently hit outside shots. It's primarily the 40 plus three pt shooting percentage that has earned him playing time here, not rebounding, and certainly not defense. .

I swear, it's like some of you guys only remember what happened in the last game. You got a big who barely averages above 2 boards per game for his career, whose per 40 board average has consistently been worse than all our other bigs during his years here, who Cal specifically ripped for his lack of rebounding last year---but then he has one intra-squad blue white scrimmage where he grabs a bunch of boards and suddenly he's a "natural rebounder."

Early on, who knows, but Cal starts five freshmen in the tournament (if he can get away with it...meaning the freshmen take a massive step toward collective competence).

The novelty will be historic. Briscoe still plays 30+ minutes. Gabriel or SKJ sub out after the first deadball. Briscoe plays in the clutch time and the three guard lineup makes a collective appearance for the overwhelming majority of the game. Cal tells the media, ad nauseam, that he's "starting five freshmen". The media checks him and counters "yes but you have Briscoe playing 32 minutes a game." UK fans enjoy the cutesy irony as UK storms to its 9th national title. Cal goes on to spread the "we started five freshmen and won the title" line on the recruiting trail for the next half-decade.

Willis or SKJ IMO. Willis will really stretch the D. SKJ could be a very good pick-pop guy, plus a very good defender. Nice luxury for Cal.

I suspect Willis will begin the season as the 5th starter, but sometime around mid-season either Gabriel or SKJ takes that spot from him.

If he ain't hitting from the outside or playing defense, for sure, but if he maintains the average and doesn't hurt the team on defense, it will make this team even stronger.

I would say that Briscoe never loses his starting position.

For sure Derek's skill is shooting, 3's and FTs. But I will give him credit, that 10 game span where he started before he got hurt in the A&M game was pretty good for him. Points and Rebs, Au 12-12, Ark 12-7, Vandy 7-9, Mo 18-12, Kansas 6-5, Tn 8-8, Fla 12-6, Ga 11-6, SC 9-2, Tn 25-5. If we would had another big last year that could have duplicated Derek's numbers we could have made the final four easy.

i think he means sub him for kj or gab real quick. five freshman is a pr stunt not because uk needs it but because cal could stick it to critics. i'm guessing that's his narrative anyway. i bet briscoe wouldn't care. the reason it won't happen is because they would just ask infinitely why briscoe isn't starting. just like you said he will always be on the floor.
