Briscoe as our team leader is the downfall. He said after the KU game that they thought they were 20 points better than KU and he still thought that. These guys think they just need to show up on time in their uniforms and they will win games. Pathetic.

That quote jumped out at me too. His lack of humility in the face of defeat is jarring.

It's unusual for a team to leave their starters in, up 20, after the other team has waved the white flag.

Kind of like how if the game is out of reach you dribble out the clock instead of shooting again.

Florida should do whatever they want, but most consider that bad form.
Florida will live to regret it

Briscoe is nowhere near what would be considered a leader. Just watch his constant demeanor on the court to see this in action.

He is always lashing out at others--refs, opposing players, UK players, Cal, etc. While never being actually willing to take any responsibility on himself for even the slightest infraction.

That may be the single most thing that has frustrated me most about Briscoe. And I don't remember him doing any of it last year.
He appears to be a positive kid to me. If you don't actually know what he's saying to his teammates or what Cal is telling him to say than you really can't trash him for at least trying to be a leader.
I have yet to see Briscoe quit or play lazy. Kid is always attacking and trying to stay positive.
I'm not sure what everyone expects out of him, he keeps getting trashed on this board for simply trying hard.
Okay, he gets his shot blocked, well, at least he's not settling for outside jumpers, he's putting pressure on the defense and trying to get to the line.
Again, I'm not sure why he gets his *** kicked so badly on this board. At least he's trying.

Come on man, who cares. We got our a$$ kicked and smiled about it, we deserved it.

I expect this kind of response. I'm not emotional about a loss like that where our effort is so poor. But I know a lot of people are.

It's a footnote on the game. And it is the kind of thing that's noticed.

I even said it doesn't matter. But it is strange. If it bothers you to discuss it, don't.

When they play whom?

If this play continues, we'll be VERY lucky to get a W when they're in Rupp. VERY.

Not sure why people don't realize that we're one lucky basket by Monk away from 0-4 over the last two weeks, playing against only one team that may make it out of the first round.

We are not good right now.

Huh? Okay, we are struggling right now, but this team has blown the doors off a lot of teams.

The team we saw in November and parts of December did, but this isn't even close to the same team. Once teams figured out how to slow down our transition game and put us in high ball screens EVERY SINGLE possession, our softness and inability to adjust was exposed.

Briscoe may be our team leader, but he cannot lead a championship team.

Hard to see it. If he's the third best player and makes all the hustle plays, we have a shot.

Also need Bam to just be a wrecking ball. Set picks, block shots, crash boards. I don't know if he has it in him, but that's what we need.

Bam perpetually in the post is a weird experiment that doesn't fit the personality of this team.

I shouldn't say weird. I understand wanting to establish a post presence. But this team will only go as far as Fox and Monk will take us. You have to fit the other pieces around that reality.

I don't care that they lost in a game where effort was so poor, but I do care that they lost BECAUSE effort was so poor.

Championship teams don't have a problem with effort. This team has slowly slid from good bet to the final 4 to good bet for a 2nd round exit.

You don't show up vs a decent NCAAT team, and they get hot, and your season ends.

I never said he quit or played lazy. And I never said he wasn't a good kid.

What I said was that he was in no way a positive leader for this team. Of course I don't k kw what he is saying to his teammates or to Cal. But neither do you. So, we are all doing exactly what message boards are for. Voicing our Opinions.

I freely admit my feelings toward Briscoe may not be valid. There has just been something that bothered me about his on court demeanor from the start--him saying he was leaving last year when it was not possible, the way he appears to treat the refs and opposing players, constantly whining about a call or play, etc. I didn't see either, but if just what has been said about him tonight is true then he was laughing on the bench when UK was getting blown out and he refused to shake opposing teams hands afterwards.

It has just worn on me from the get-go. I don't know the kid personally. He may be the best kid in the world. I have no doubt he is a good guy off the court. But, I have not cared for how he carried himself on the court. I think that is at least partially why he gets blasted on here.

UF's Robinson stated after the game that Briscoe called the Gators "soft" early in the game. That got them fired up to want to win this game badly.

Hey Briscoe, if your gonna talk trash, you darn well better be able to BACK IT UP!!! If not, SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE!!!:mad::mad::mad:

It struck me as poor leadership as well. He wants so badly to lead this team and be that leader. But I'm not sure he has that capability by example or play.
Briscoe is not a leader. Just not. All I see from him lately is a lot turnovers and his shot getting blocked. Just tired of the team not really caring all that much if they win or lose
