As Moorhead proves there is more than just career wins and losses.

Why was he fired from ULL? On paper the program seemed to be trending down. Probation

I haven't followed his career closely. So someone that knows more might can shed light on his departure.

What happened at ULL. I get he "built" the program when he got there, but from the outside looking in it looks lik he was tearing it down when he left

There is a dumbass portion of the fanbase that wants people who are Mississippi State guys to coach the football team whether they are any good or not. That’s why Hud and Joe Judge are candidates. It’s why Rocky Felker got hired in the 80s, etc. Joe Judge is modern day Felker to me.
Then there are truly dumbass portions of our fanbase who seem to automatically dismiss Mississippi State guys despite their extended record of success, apparently because these ******** don't think an MSU guy can be good enough.

Anybody who looks at Hud's on-field results and doesn't make the mistake of discounting what he did at ULL before David Saunders and the other former OM coach brought their academic fraud scheme with them from OM should see the man's resume compares very favorably to just about any other candidate mentioned, including Napier.

lol Um 3 straight losing seasons isn’t turning things around buddy. Going 4-8, 6-7, and 5-7 in your last 3 years before getting fired isn’t turning things around. That’s like saying Matt Luke turned around Ole Miss.
Educate yourself. Hud did not get a show cause. David Saunders and the other former OM coach did because they brought the cheating program over with them from OM lock, stock & barrel. Hell, the NCAA gave them some mitigated consideration because OM failed to tell ULL about the cheating Saunders was doing.

Hud's last years there were under scholarship reductions and other NCAA restrictions. He couldn't sign a successful QB, took a chance on LSU transfer Anthony Jennings, who turned out to be a bust, yet still came within 1 win of getting ULL back to a bowl despite the NCAA sanctions.

He did have 11 players on his last couple of teams who did some stupid off-field crap that reflected poorly on him, but he looked to be turning things back around when the new AD decided to fire him.

Also, the ULL record some of you keep referring too is that bad only because they had to forfeit 22 wins. His real record there was 51-38. This at a program that had not been to a bowl game in 4 decades.

Napier may well be a great coach, but since we're talking about records and accomplishments, this year is Napier's first winning season as a HC. His only other season was 7-7.

He was their Mullen. And they brought in a guy to build off of that get them to the next level. That’s why I think Napier is the guy we need. Hud is a builder. Napier is an elevator. I like both but I think we need Napier at this time.
Is Napier an elevator because he went 7-7, then won 10 or 11 this year? Is that all the evidence we really need?

Does it matter at all that he got fired by Dabo at Clemson after his 2nd season as OC because offensive production tanked?

I say again, Napier may well be a great coach, but a close look at his resume reveals a guy that should be considered more of a risk than a no-doubt-about-it home run hire. There just isn't a ton of evidence proving he's had sustained success anywhere.
