There’s more to the Robic story and it isn’t Cal’s fault . He may even still be on the payroll till his contract expires …one can check the UKAD website

Robic was a fine assistant coach.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

If you thought things were good while Robic was here it was Cal.

If you think things are bad without him, it’s Cal.

Cal is in charge of everything. If it’s good it’s on him. If it’s bad it’s on him.

There’s an opening on the staff with the departure of Turner. Simple as that. This isn’t a “Robic is our savior” thread.

Robic never heard from Cal when he was "let go", and never knew "why". I would say that is Cal's fault. Robic is not the only one that Cal has treated in this way. He was assigned a position at UK by Barnhart. Cal had nothing to do with that part unfortunately.

Dude, I loved the guy and he was good but you can’t have an alcoholic on your staff, that’s why no Rod Strickland too.

I thought getting Orlando back would make a huge on-court difference. But no. Yes, he is probably the main reason we have the current recruiting class coming in. But talent no longer translates to success for Cal.

Why didn't Cal speak up for Robic if he was "let go" ?
He was moved into a behind the scenes staff role. Cal doesn’t do that stuff and doesn’t sign his checks , but if he didn’t ‘hear from him ‘that’s not good …but that’s coming from one side. Cal had him with him for a long time , made him a lot of money….had him on staffs at schools that pay well. Robic had an HC job at Youngstown …he went 58-113 , then Cal had him at Memphis and UK where he was probably making even more money . It’s not all bad , and most of all we need a roster put together well more than any assistant , really

Which is exactly why we need a guy in the Robic mold — even if not necessarily Robic himself. Orlando and Chin are doing their jobs, and even Cal can still land big time recruits himself when he feels like it (see: Justin Edwards). What we need is an A+ film guy, scouting report guy, gameplan guy. I don’t claim to know the ins and outs of Robic’s personal life like some on here. Of course I know he lost his daughter, and that pain never goes away. But I also know he’s had some time to grieve and work out his problems. He checks all the boxes and knows how Cal works. But I guess he was blindsided by Cal? That’s news to me.

Losing a kid to cancer destroyed that man. I can’t imagine those demons.
This man. This. If you're a parent, you can completely understand this. My grandmother buried my father when he was 61 and she was well into her 80s. I'll never forget the effect it had on her or the words she spoke..."A mother should never have to bury their child"...It was just so raw.

Heard he was assisting his good friend Gregory P down in Texas as well.

I Work for a Car Dealership and have done Coach Robic's paperwork several times over the years and is the nicest man you ever wanna meet, but I think when his daughter passed, I can't imagine what he went through. Has another daughter that goes to Kansas we did the paperwork for a few months back.

Not sure but I think Robic was on the bench when we lost to WVA and they ran the 1-3-1. Robic was the offensive coach, correct? He didn't know what to run, neither did Cal. I don't care if Cal doesn't know it, but if he has someone on his staff to know what offense to run in certain situations, even if it's a surprise, he should know every answer at the level of UK. Hell, there are several websites you can even go to and find an offense to run against any defense. Really hope he is doing OK, but I wouldn't want him back on the staff.
