FWIW, I thought the same thing. Fresh start for Swinney. IMO, the pool of established HC candidates that could be an upgrade AND might be interested in the LSU job can't be a large one, right?
It just seems like there are many more schools that think they should be playing for a NC every year than there are realistic odds of that happening. This leads to churn at high profile programs AND expensive buyouts.
The problem is there’s at least 5-6 schools in the SEC who think they deserve to be in the playoffs every year. And LSU has won 2 nattys with 2 pretty awful coaches in Orgeron and Miles. Florida, GA, Bama, LSU, Texas, Texas A & M all think with the money they spend and their tradition they should be in the hunt every year. Unfortunately 6 schools from the SEC can’t or won’t make the playoffs, at least currently! 2 or 3 of these teams are almost always going to be disappointed.
