Breaking in a new softball glove....

Got my girl a new Wilson A2000 for her move up to 12u. Needless to say, right out of the box it's stiffer than a preachers dick. No offense to preacherdawg or whatever his name is.

We have already played catch for a few weeks and it's loosend up a good bit, but... Best tried and true break-in methods. Go...

Dishwasher then under the mattress for 2 days in closed position

Really hot water (outside of glove only). Then bend it like crazy and beat it with a glove mallet. I use glove conditioner once it's close. Will take a few times. A2000 is a 17r to break in. Play catch with it too. Get that pocket right.

This. Get a wooden mallet and hammer the stiff (moving parts) parts of the glove.

Main thing is to just use it. Can also put a softball in the pocket and wrap with a rubber band around the glove.

Look up Aso glove break in on youtube. He designs Wilson A2000 and A2K. He is a glove guru. Will break the glove in very well and correctly.

I’ve got one in 12u and one in 9u - 12 has an a2000 and 9 has Nokona - would not recommend using any water/steam to break in - catch play, glove conditioner and work it - I clean and condition (teaching them) their a glove every 2 tournaments unless there is rain at which point I clean and condition

Do people still put gloves in the oven? I remember putting some kind of conditioner on my A2000 and baking it for a bit then throwing a ball into it for a while before doing the ball and rubber band trick.
