My old HS and known his family for years and he appears to be the real deal, quite an athlete IMO
His film was good, Decent speed and tackling, Looks like He could be a good Safety or Will LB

Hope we get him as D is losing quite a few players and need to rebuild for next year and beyond. Might have caught a break with coaching situation at ISU. Hope PSU does not get into the picture.

That said, his obsession with beating Iowa will most likely lead him to try and beat out Iowa for recruits. If he only takes 1 or 2 of the top kids in the state each year...and doesn't waste a lot of time/money doing it...and they win 10-11 games? No problem.
But guarantee the boosters will be paying attention. And I wish he - and Penn State - nothing but the worst.

Franklin is getting hammered for letting his ego dictate that PSU overspend on a recruit he wanted to beat Mich for..for poor allocation of nil funds.
MC will be very hesitant to target recruits in Iowa just to beat Iowa, believe me..that would destroy his cred in eyes of PSU fans
Maybe so. But taking it out on people who work there now and had absolutely nothing to do with it makes no sense.
Only Iowa recruits he will go after are the top 2-3 guys in the state 4* kids. He’s going to be setting his sites on higher rated guys and competing with the Ohio st & Michigan blue blood schools instead of the days competing with more Midwest region schools like Iowa or Minnesota for players. Only way I see him possibly beyond that is next class or 2 with kids he’s already built a relationship with on recruiting trail. a select couple of them could be fall backs, not counting higher ranked guys like slagle, for misses elsewhere nationally where they could be developmental guys at PSU that wouldn’t see field right away.

What's more important to Matty; his credibility...or his pride in wanting to prove he's better than Ferentz.
By working there they are saying they are ok with what happened and every Ped State fan acts like it was no big deal and we should all forget about it. We will never forget what was allowed to happen and what was covered up on that campus.
So Matt Campbell is OK with it? Come on, man. The people who did it and allowed it are all POS. They have been cleared out and dealt with. They're gone and have been for years. That doesn't make the current secretary for the wrestling coach an enabler.

SMU lost their entire program for 2 seasons for something that is now legal. Think about that.
At minimum, they should have had to shutdown entirely for two seasons. Maybe give the fans a chance to re-prioritize their lives.
They should have bulldozed all of the buildings after what they allowed to happen.
