Garret hits a go-ahead homer in the 9th, and then of all things Soriano blows the save. This may be the beginning of the end for our wild card hopes.

we still have the vast majority of our games against division foe. I will admit tonight's loss sucked especially in the manner it went down , but with our arms we will be a tough out. Once we get the WC berth Bobby is going to have a field day with the match ups . Two starters coming out of the pen and through Hudson into the mix and you have recipe for success if we can just manage to get Church to start hitting some long balls. I like our chances and will not cut bait on this team this early. Who knows Wren might have something up his sleeve before the deadline.

Come off the ledge. They're still right in the middle of the wild card race, and although its unlikely, they still got a shot at winning the east. They've had the Phils number this year. Anyway, the umps strike zone was terrible tonight, very inconsistent. Soriano was getting squeezed and couldn't get any borderline calls so he to groove one. Congrats to the Marlins' guy for taking advantage of it. The Braves pitching is still among the best in the league. That alone will keep them in it til the end.

The division title is probably a stretch with the Phillies having an 8 game lead, but they are still very alive in the Wild Card. Rockies lost last night so the Braves are still 3 back in the wild card.

I don't believe its over from this one "crippling loss." Hell, they're only what 4 or 5 games out in Wild Card and the bats have come alive, Hansen is wearing hitters out. As long as he doesnt have a young man's fall off and the rest of the staff comes around to support the starters, Wild Card is definitely feasible.

'crippling', but it was a tough one. soriano has been solid for quite a while. i'd rather him have a hiccup/burp against the marlins than the phils. that was his first loss since june 11, and first blown save since may 13. his era is still under 2! granted he and the snake charmer were sharing saves until a few weeks ago. they bullpen does seem much more sturdy than it has in the past few years. wildcard berth is attainable, and the east isnt out of reach, however unlikley the phils are to stumble that far.

the nl central should be a much better/closer race.
