Good to see Bradshaw in yesterday. Didn’t have an eye popping debut but really hard to expect a lot from him at least for several games now as he gets into game shape and also learn to play with his teammates and they with him. Seemed to have good hands, and grabbed a few good boards. Be interesting to see how he comes along and find out are we better with him on the floor or off. That is a question no one really still knows the answer too. Like many I’m just expecting for cal to revert to having multiple bigs in and getting away from playing how this team is built to play.

He should have waited until next weekend. With Wagner out why introduce a new player to further complicate things?
What if Wagner is out next week too, or even longer?
Why set back his impact, as it is clear it will take a number of games for him to get there (best case).
Even though different positions, in theory it would help a little to add a player since we were already thin, subtracting Wagner with no Bradshaw puts us at 7 guys who play but really only 6 who contribute much.

My disappointment was seeing him trying to post-up. Yeah, take advantage when have a big height advantage. But I though he was (or wanted to be) a perimeter player. Sort of Cal's 2nd chance with a player like Skal. So on offense able to continue the 5-out, but on defense adding shot blocking to the lineup.

I don't think his presence was a problem. We needed to get him some run. A game vs UNC-Wilmington sounds like the right time to do it. I don't think he particularly hurt us.
No one on the team could guard a shadow. No one other than Reed was creating offense.

Blast Cal all you want for the team not being ready. I don't think playing Bradshaw was the wrong decision.

One play where a ball came off the rim right near him was grabbed by a shorter UNCW player. Really made me miss Oscar.
What I saw from him on the bench in previous games was way different from what I saw on the court.

Not that I blame Cal for playing him, it had to happen, but I believe Bradshaw's debut probably cost us that game. I've not looked at the boxscore, but other than the one dunk, I don't remember him grabbing a single rebound or affecting the game in a single positive way. All it ultimately ended up doing was eat into Thiero's p.t., and we needed Adou's tenacity in yesterday's game. Bradshaw has to get up to speed on the toughness of the college game, and learn to have a positive affect on the outcome even when not scoring, ie rebounding and rim protection. These are the areas we were lacking in while he was out; these should be the areas he concentrates on to be an asset to the team.

Also, I hope this is the end of the Reed needs to start talk. Yesterday's chemistry was off from the tip, and integrating Bradshaw not withstanding, a large part of that was rotations being off because DJ was out. Not that reed played awful, but he definitely wasn't as razor sharp yesterday in the starters role. I believe he had more turnovers yesterday than he's had in the rest of the games combined.

Cal just cannot help himself. If he had it his way I swear he'd put all 21 feet out there at once.

Bradshaw was +11 His debut didn't cost us the game.

Not finding the ocean and having the defense of a sieve did.

I know genius won't, but I'd scratch the post ups for him. The couple times they tried yesterday, he didn't even look like he knew how to seal his man. Looked weak trying. Not doubting his talent, just doubt that's his cup of tea.

Don't think he ever had the ball pass to him other than the one time he scored.

Ive missed Oscar many times this year despite what some of his detractors say.
Same here. I'm a fan of Mitchell's game but he's not the big that's gonna go take or hunt rebounds. The issue with Oscar would've been getting him to kick it back out to one of these shooters we have

Nobody should be posting up. We didn't look the way we have up to this game by posting up. IMO, the only way to go is to play the way we were. With the bigs coming back, Cal has already expressed his desire to play 2 at once. He can't help himself. If we go that route, this season is already over.

I have definitely in the 40 offensive rebounds we have given up. I swear the times we play decent defense they get a second shot half the time. That’s the most frustrating thing about this team.

3 pts, 2 RB, 1 block and +11 in 12 minutes. It was a decent debut for him. Got his feet wet. Not much to really get excited or upset about. Time will tell.

Cal's obsession with the post up is a recent phenomenon. Watch our Final Four runs in 2011 and 2014. Both years we spread the floor. Both teams had size, but played face-up 4's, Jones and Randle, with a 5 who hustled for offensive rebounds. We weren't running offense designed to get the 5 man points from post ups. The 5 got their points from put backs, lobs, and interior passing.

We could have won this game easily if we shoot twice as many threes as we did. Still, hard to to that when you turn the ball over and lose so many possessions: Or when you refuse to pass to get open looks. This is why we lost.

I haven’t been posting after this loss, just wanted to gather my thoughts and see how I really feel instead of jumping in and burning Cal to the ground. I wanted to. But I think this loss was a few easy things players could have controlled:
- pass the ball
- shoot more threes
- value possession

And about one thing that players can’t control:
- Cal somewhat reverting to two bigs for a stretch (although this was only limited action and def didn’t cost us the game).

I loved Oscar but he would have been a disaster with this team. They would have thrown it in to him, he would over-dribble, hold the ball and never kick it out. This team (save UNCW game) has been so much more exciting to watch than either of the two teams with Oscar on them.
