Amazing.

with the portal making the landscape so unstable I understand why he would want to stay put. Think being a college coach is very hard right now.

Prior to this year - in every sport - coaches needed to work to keep players from leaving/transferring. The way the portal and the NCAA rule on 1x transfers has made it a free-for-all means you are spending way more time on personnel management.

In the pros - somebody puts together a roster and you get to coach...

He is the Celtics coach...a legendary and historic franchise. Why would he leave a historic gig for a rebuild? If he gets fired in Boston, he will have his pick of jobs!

Not just a rebuild, but a rebuild in arguably the strongest conference and dealing with one of the most unrealistic fanbases in college basketball.

Indiana is going to get a lot better quickly. With the addition of a true point guard from Pitt and today they got a committment from the 57th ranked player Tamar Bates who is a shooting guard. They won't be down long.

If this doesn’t tell you that Indiana is no longer a blue blood, I don’t know what will. Now when will their fan base realize it?

It's not necessarily about being down, per se. Indiana fans seem to think their birthright is to be at the top of the Big Ten and a perennial Final Four contender.

Stevens shine is off thought it might be a good time for him to secure the bag but maybe he thinks or has had indications he’s being held in higher regard in the NBa than he should be

IMO he replaces K at Duke when he steps down.
I doubt it. He has said he really does not enjoy recruiting. He loves the NBA and even if the Celtics fire him after this season he will be like all NBA coaches, he will be recycled to another NBA team.

In the pros, the players are the coaches. The coach is more of a manager, keeping all those egos in check to work as a team, at least during playoff time.

Other than Michigan this conference is not that strong at the moment

B1G is still deep, and no one school is going to dominate it - or if they do, it won't be for long. There's just too much money flowing into the coffers for coaches, facilities, etc.

Conferences with deep pockets tend to be deep with strong teams - and the B1G has deeper pockets than anyone.

When I see what these other schools are paying or paying to buyout coaches (see Archie Miller) I wonder if rutgers really has the cojones to really be in this league . It wasn’t that long ago that our school president was boasting about paying flood near the bottom of the league .

this for Indiana to show its fans what it was supposedly prepared to do...IMO, Stevens isn't going back to college--better chance he gets another NBA job if he leaves Boston, or if Celtics are stupid enough to move away from him.
