Similar situation- made my own way. The idea some of them push that it can’t be done is an excuse. If they got the balls do it. If not then quit pretending you did.
Nothing against families that hook each other up either. Just don’t pretend you did and get “earned not given” tats or have your father buy you a DR label and pretend you’re a legitimate PhD holder.
The Calipari family has an issue with wanting to pretend they’ve forged these wildly successful lives and really only Calipari has. And hell he’s rode the coattails of young poor black families to do it. None actually went out and became successful doing real life work in the private sector or elsewhere. Calipari is the closest to it, but even he needed a lot of help to get there. That family is a running joke. Brad now being on the sideline pretending he’s a college coach is the cringiest fake life of all of his kids.

Their fans are starting to have issues. They’re about to figure this out in the next few years. And Calipari is too big for Arkansas, so I fully expect him to leave them in rubble.
