We are getting to the stage where it may be realistic to discuss the NCAA seedings. Tonight is another reveal of the top 16 for Div 1 Women. RU won't be in that group but where should RU end up? I don't see current discussion of this on the board. My apologies if I missed it.

Charlie Creme has had various brackets over the weeks. Last week he had RU as an 8/9 matchup in the first round against FGCU at Columbia SC, where South Carolina would be the 1 seed and the inevitable 2nd round matchup for whoever wins the 8/9 matchup.
This week (yesterday, 3/1) he has RU moving up to an 8 seed, playing Marquette in WACO with the inevitable 2nd round matchup for whoever wins that game, with Baylor.

I am a RU fan but I think RU has no chance against any of the #1 seeds, so getting the 8/9 seed means a short tournament run. Thus, it seems like getting a 7/10 seed would have better chances than 8/9. Of course, that would probably put RU in a region with either UConn or Stanford as the 2 seed.
Oh well.
Is RU good enough to make the Sweet 16 depending on the matchups?
Can RU make it past the 1st round?
This has been a very unpredictable season. Will the NCAA tournament continue that way? Or are we only going to see the 1 seeds in New Orleans?
I don't know answers for any of the above.

Go RU!

We might not know the answers for any of the above.
But can hope to luck out or earn a seed that will improve RU's chances to advance.
Maybe a combination of good fortune and great B1G Tourney will come RU's way.

How is it that Ohio State loses 2 of the last 3 games and still moves up one spot, ahead of Rutgers? We are ahead of them in the Big Ten standings and beat them in the last week. I really don't understand bracketology.....

Not specific to your comment - but Charlie Creme was reminding folks yesterday that it is "body of work" as a significant factor. RU has done nothing but help themselves with the late wins and will help themselves more if they can pull an "upset" in the B1G tourney.

That said, I will say that a Sweet 16 is probably unlikely regardless. And to the other question, the top 3 seeds "should" advance to the Final Four, of course, there is a reason they play the games.

OSU has a better rpi and profile body of work

RU can improve the seeding by having a nice run in the Big 10 tourney, if they can beat Indiana in the quarters that could get them a 7 seed which would be huge..of course in that case they will send us to Storrs to play UConn in the 2nd round

In SOS/RPI terms, OSU does have a better body of work, but interestingly RU and OSU have the same number of good wins, and one of them is RU head-to-head over OSU. Creme actually has put RU higher than the RPI would justify - by 2-3 seeds - but if you look at the body of work I think that's probably reasonable. Two wins in the B1G tourney probably would give RU a shot at a 7 seed (and 3 wins - hey, a guy can dream - probably would lock up a 7 and open up the possibility of the much more desirable 6 seed). Also, we should be rooting against Duke, Virginia Tech and TCU in their conference tournaments, and also should hope to go at least one round further than Ohio State

7/10 or 6/11 seeds are more conducive to longer runs in tourney if you are not one of the top teams.

OSU crushes Iowa and made B1G semis ... higher seed is warranted.
