Lundari basically said that UK got the 2 seed over Tennessee because the "shade of color" on our jersey.

That might be true. It's not fair, but it feels good getting an advantage for once.
No. He was saying not much difference in the 2 or 3. Except the 2 wears the home jersey if they play

That's the matchup I don't like. Purdue was on the short list of teams who I'd prefer not meet.
If Virginia Tech plays like they did against Duke, they could easily take Purdue out. The problem is they could take us out as well. I was really impressed with them in the ACCT. They're really talented.

So which draw do you guys like better ? If Kentucky had beat Tennessee they probably would been #1 seed in the EAST and Baylor would been #2 anyway.

So you rather have the Murray St/San Fran - Purdue draw
OR
North Carolina / Marquette - UCLA draw

The 1st one. UCLA is a 2 seed if healthy all year.

That 3 seed for them will probably piss them off a little more!

If they haven't already blown their emotional load. We'll see, but they were pretty emotional after the SECT. The first 2 rounds will be tough for them, especially if the refs don't let em "play physical" (foul) up and down the court.

My Bracket Ranking Toughest to Easiest
1. Midwest
2. South
3. East
4. West

The 8-12 seeded teams always make the biggest difference to me. The lowest seeded good teams? Maybe #9 Creighton, #10 Miami, #11 Iowa St and #12 IU.

Yall fretting Purdue when its a slow physical team that gives us issues

Purdue doesn't want to get in a back and forth game.(assuming we are playing at least our B game, Saturday was F, Kansas A)

But, we got to get there first and so do they. Rather have them as our 3 than a Ucla. Style wise they're a better matchup for us. And of the 3 seeds, might be the best matchup for us.

Purdue 3rd offensive efficiency 100th defensive
UK 4 offensive efficiency 27th defensive

Should be a high scoring or at least a highly efficient scoring game on offense for both.

Why? They aren’t great. Guard the three and push the bigs off the block. Don’t foul Ivey. That’s how he gets his. Slow guards too.
Live in Indy, watch Big Ten / Purdue basketball whenever UK isn't on tv. Follow them pretty closely actually, since my college roommate is on the bench for Purdue as an asst.

I was pissed because I would rather have Wisconsin all day long. Ken Pom rankings alone have Purdue 14 and Wisconsin 34. Pretty wide margin for the analytics with 2 teams on the same seed line. Wisconsin has Johnny Davis, and after that .... nobody. They might be more reliant upon one player than any other high major team in the country this year. I am just not a fan of that team at all.

Purdue was ranked #1 at one point and they have an inside/out combo featuring an NBA lottery pick (Ivey) and a legit/crafty big (Williams), plus an awkward monster in Edey (7'4" but looks 7'6") who is much better than Shagari Alleyne or Taco Fall, and a shooter in Stefanovic who can catch fire better than Grady when he's on. I know their D stinks, but I also don't trust Cal to NOT slow it down in the tourney, which plays right into Purdue's hands. Who actually thinks Cal would try to run on Purdue instead of playing a half-court slog? Not me. It's not his M.O. in March.

KenPom rankings have Midwest as the easiest and it's not close. This bracket is a great case study in perception v. what the data analytics suggest regarding strength of regions.

Disagree with KenPom. I look all the way down the bracket. Not that he doesn't but look at seeds 8-12 in the Midwest and South.

I look at it from UK's standpoint of who we match up the best against.Tough, defensive minded teams give us the most trouble and we don't have much of that in our region.Purdue is a good team without doubt but we will be able to score a ton of them. Not everything is about the best team but how we have looked against certain teams. There are several team lower in kenpom that I think would be a nightmare against us.

Purdue twin towers scare me Oscar has not faired well vs players of that size plus Ivy is a top 5 draft pick.

Going to be a tough game with Purdue.

SF looked turrible vs the Zags. Go Racers!

Hoping Murray State speeds up UK and we get going downhill. Might bode well for success in that bracket. You have to stay in front of Wheeler and rebound to slow the Cats down.

Didn’t read this long thread but how in the hell did lowly Iowa State get in going 7-12 in the big 12. The people picking this are just not very bright.
SOS? It's 33.

Maybe they have injuries. They beat Memphis, Creighton and Xavier early then killed Iowa.

We ran with Indiana in 2012 and with ucla in 2017.

Cowardly teams slow it down against uk.

Our draw is bittersweet, the top teams we play we match up against well, but also there are more top teams in our bracket than any other bracket.

We avoided:

Kansas revenge game for them
Duke bad matchup
Gonzaga bad matchup
Nova in Philly
Arizona bad matchup

We've been dissing Baylor all year. If we get past Purdue, we'll have our chance to prove we were better than them.

Plus, as a bonus, we don't have to play any SEC teams along the way.
I think Baylor was very good but they are hurt, obviously the best of the ones to get. Still capable team though.

Again I don't really think San Fran over Murray is even an upset.

San Fran is a 1 point favorite on KP. I figure the Vegas line is similar

This is 2022.

Did you watch Purdue and Iowa yesterday? Nation’s #2 and #3 offenses played to 71-65 before some last second free throws by Iowa. They both slowed it down. Purdue will get UK into a half court game and Cal will allow it. He doesn’t have NBA All Stars like he did those years.

If it's a slowed down game, so be it.

I think there's a misperception that we can't win half court games but we certainly can.

If the top 5 offense we have can't put up good efficiency numbers against the 100th ranked defense, then we weren't winning the title anyways.

I tell you though. Wisconsin causes their own set of problems. Really dirty players. They are great at it. Purdue has really struggled down the stretch. Iowa is the worst defensive team in the B1G and still bothered PU. If I’m picking right now PU may not make it to the second weekend. They might be the most overrated team other than Wisconsin in the tournament. The B1G getting 9 teams in is insane. No real final 4 caliber guards in the whole conference. Guards win in March. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy IU got in. Eddy is a freak but struggles with a physical Big. Williams struggles off the block. You make him put it on the floor. I’m picking UK all day. Keep in mind when Eddy is in they are a 4 out but with Williams in they go 5 out some.
